Well Japan had know idea there was only 3 is the thing, I believe there is a story of how a downed US pilot at the time was captured and when asked about atom bombs, just lied out his ass to say there was hundreds, so by all accounts the Japanese thought there was many more, and who are they to doubt that knowing the industrial might of the US at the time.

Well, Japanese ain’t barbarians(put aside my negative bias toward them), and they had pretty decent scientists to calculate that’s one big boom for sure can’t be very cheap. And it’s a new one type of boom, it’s never can’t be put in a big series at the start.

And one pilot it’s just one opinion of enemy. It’s not enough. Also didn’t japanese even had at least one spy in USA close to this project?

As for the effect of atom bombing vs firebombing, put simply firebombing is only effective so many times before there is nothing left to burn, not to mention it took hundreds of bombers at a time to get the desired results. While by all accounts, the Japanese know it only takes a single plane to do 10 times the damage of a firebombing raid.

Well it’s stronger per one bomb? And again? If think about it, that’s simpler to counter. Although if they anymore hadn’t anything in their arsenal to counter american aviation, what’s again the difference between being bombed to cave age by common bombs or atomic one? So, if american industry so great they could made a lot of common bombs…

Because it hits a saturation point, also see the point of it taking 100s of planes while are limited for ultimate effect to urban areas. No such issues with atom bombing.

Do you really need to destroy every piece of land? All what you need just destroy every city and village and then blockade islands.

However from a purely practical standpoints, millions more would have died should a conventional invasion had taken place, probably millions alone from the direct consequences, perhaps millions more from the indirect consequences, such as via famine or disease or etc.

I see no point at all why somebody should was to invade this islands at all.
Allies had enough resources to just isolate japanese there.

There was no plan to invade nor capture Pearl Harbour, it was purely a pre-emptive strike meant to cripple US Naval power in the pacfic.

Pearl Harbour was very close to civilians and certainly as far as Im aware civilians were targeted.

Every military base have some % of civillians around.
At best there died few thousands of civillians. It’s just nothing in such large scale war.

Idk, I heard only about few ballons with explosions that’s killed one or two childrens. That’s all.
Again it’s nothing compare to what americans done to them. And again I didn’t said if they had ability to have civil americans in their power, they would be more friendly with them than with chinese. Good luck to americans to have ocean between Asia/Europe and them. Not every country so lucky.

Is there country that’s sent material aid to USSR and had same amount of destruction and loses like it? Seems like only Poland or China comparable with USSR here… Doubt if occupied Poland could sent anything or anyone anywhere at all(other then own goverment to UK). And if China itself needed supplies, it’s for sure couldn’t sent it to USSR. Like, there was USA and it’s wasn’t affected by war. Also something was sent by UK which is “chilled” on island(it’s wasn’t good, but it’s wasn’t so bad at all).
Also there was some german supplies to China though. Idk when they stopped it.

Tbf its not unsubstantiated, a solid 70% of the population of any former Warsaw pact member will also say that, and I mean if we just look to the UN, or just generally the surveys done by each country on their opinion of the soviet union at the time when it was still a thing.

Most Western places see the soviet union as a sad depressing monolith that oppressed its people, squeezing them all to beyond their limits, milking them for every ounce of value they could before tossing them aside with at best the bare minimum to survive, and often not even that.

However saying that, something the West does fail to see, is the life inside Russia post the collapse of the USSR and the chaos is brought. This is something people over here should learn, at least to understand why many Russians at least still support the old ways of dictatorship despite being offered better options. One could describe it as Stockholm syndrome almost.

thanks to chinese for killing 2-3 million japanese soldiers, thanks to US for destroying japanese navy, thanks to US for firebombing and killing 200-900k people and destroying industrial capacity in different cities, thanks to 2 atomic bombs killing ~150-200k people and destroying strategic locations, thanks to US who came to okinawa and were step away from landing on japanese soil.

so while soviets played a part in victory against the japan, it was minor compared to chinese and US contributions.
