The one advantage having a grindy game like this has over regular shooters is that you can use rewards to incentivize proper play.
Building a rally and having people spawn on it is one of the most impactful things you can possibly do, yet the rewards are meager. Being on the cap, again, one of the most important things in the game but its safer and more effective to sit off the cap and farm kills in terms of rewards (praying that your team does the heavy lifting for you). Spawning in a plane and being a dipshit, but bringing in bank killing suicide bombers that do nothing and getting a kings ransom from killing 5 bombers because someone on the other team was stupid enough to use it and deny their team actual effective artillery for minutes. You get the idea. Capping points, playing objectives, being near objectives, building spawn points should be rewarded exponentially more than it is now.
Secondly desertion is a huge problem. The penalty is laugable to the point where people dont give a shit and just leave maps they dont like, or uptiers at BR III. The game is 10v10, losing even a single player is devastating, combine that with the fact that most armor and plane squads are useless, and even if they aren’t they cant cap points, or build spawns which is how you win games… and you still have 2/2 cap you might be down 5 players for the capture game with just a single person leaving, and it leads to a runoff effect where people who see that 1 or 2 real players have been replaced by bots on the team (The game tries to hide this to the unaware) they just see the writing on the wall and leave too. Tons of games you’ll see 5 or more bots on the losing side on the last half of the match, and its really not worth sticking it out if you aren’t #1 or #2 on the losing side for bonus.
This goes for destroying rallies too, 55 points for doing something that can completely crush a team if it’s their only one and it often is, is just a kick in the nuts.
To be honest, sitting at 5k with 0 deaths while infantry is still trying to cap one point losing easily 400 soldiers without achieving, it’s enough to know that planes are more useful than whatever you are trying to do. If people leave your matches while being on your side, it’s probably cause they don’t like to carry “deserters penalizers” all over the game.
I had a match yesterday where I probably killed 60-80 ppl in a matter of about 1-2 minutes with PZIII N, smoke the point so they could cross, and they still couldn’t cap. Died, spawned in as INF and found out we had no rally and the team was running 150m to point, while the other team had one 50m behind cap. Ya they probably weren’t the best, but when the other team has 1/3rd the distance to run to cap it really doesn’t matter how well you are doing in armor/planes.
I had games where i kill almost everyone on the cap point with a bomb run and no one takes it, and there is a tank camping in grey zone killing 60 to 80 people in 2 minutes, but “also kills really don’t matter”, but he demands heavy penalization for the people that do not want to cap the point for him. You are a joke.
Giving more points for capping isn’t penalizing people who want to continue playing as they were, it only incentivizes people to actually play objectives more. Nothing is being taken away. The only penalization im asking for is desertion because in a 10v10 game losing even a single player is detrimental, and once 1 or 2 people leave you might as well follow suit in an already losing game.
I have to be honest with you, only players that i have saw crying for heavier penalizations on desertion are the most dependants players that have this “carry me” attitude. Be better than this.
they give 0 real reward for rally, engineer constructs, destroying enemy rally, shooting down bombers, nothing and wonder why people don’t play as a team or do anything but farm kills.
Same in War Thunder. Nobody helps repair or put out fires, because it gives 1xp and killing enemy is 500.
