Either a way to fix “MG nests” or a way to upgrade them

MG nests are very useful, and very satisfying once you finally unlock them. However, they are currently FAR too vulnerable. A single bullet touching the gun breaks the whole purpose, and just leaves the sandbag remnants.

Please either give us a way to “repair” with an engineer, replacing the gun, or give it some kind of durability upgrade. Even fortification with sandbags have minimal efficiency.

Considering you have to get to Engineer 2 squad, be using an engineer squad, it’s the most costly of buildables, and it takes so long to build, it’s not getting spammed. Definitely needs some work.

Dude.

We can ALREADY repair those…

You knew that, right?

They can already be repaired.

I agree moving them to be an engineer 2 exclusive was a mistake. Keep them as is and move them (back) to engineer 1.

I’d even make them a bit more resistant. Considering that when you’re shooting from those, you instantly becomes everyone’s target, and unlike Ro2, there’s no way to duck behind the sandbags to avoid return fire.

There’s no shield in front of the soldier (except with my sexy Maxim), unlike what we had with AA spam, so they’re not difficult to deal with… especially if you’re like me and love bolties and ranged weaponry.

Ideally we would have options to set the MG on the ground as well but I doubt that will happen

For some reason it doesn’t give me the option. I am on console though.

It does
For it to work, you must have the hammer equipped in hand. Then there will be a prompt that you can hold and will repair the gun, for a fraction of the cost.

Try it in practice mode

Honestly shields would be optimal. It would still leave the head open to a well placed shot.

I still wish too that you could snap an additional sandbag on top of it to give it window, rather than being in the open. Being able to better combine fortifications would take engineers to a whole new level.

The Maxim got one such shield. Balanced as you hardly see what you’re shooting at, and it’s rof is low.

But I wouldn’t add shields to other lmgs. We don’t want another unrealistic nerf, like they did with AA.

All I’d do is make the lmg resistant to bullets twice as much. Would still leave the gunner exposed and fairly easy to get rid of.

Mg nests just suck. Sad to say… I’ve had a few good experiences with them but the take to long to build for what you get.

I find the trick to them is in the placement. With long range and a large protected firing window, they’re a huge threat.

Better than pre-nerf AA in the right situation since you can set them up to fire out windows easily.

For me, the other issues are that you can’t really zoom enough to get a whole lot of range out of it. The bots detect up to around 100m if I’m not mistaken. In its current state it’s fairly difficult to get:

  • a good angle so you can hit enough
  • good range to avoid getting brutalized by bots
  • too low of durability to where a single bullet puts it out of commission

OR (on the flip side if you set it up for a narrow alley/hallway)

  • bots snap right to you
  • again too low of durability to really do much
  • if you set up additional sandbags to protect yourself, teammates will ALWAYS tear it down. Even if you are managing to hold it down, they are always mad they aren’t the ones getting kills. (I had that argument with a guy the other day when I asked him why he tore it down. His reply is that I was “getting too many kills”.)

So no matter what you do currently, it’s nowhere near as effective as it should be.

It’s a machine gun- if you can see someone, you can kill them with a quick burst. No need to be super precise when you have infinite ammo.

I wish Engy I got them, and maybe a worse AA gun, then the current AA guns get moved to Engy II.

You still have to hit them to kill them. There are a lot of times I’m trying to hit at a little distance (100m or so) and I’m not hitting. It looks like I’m on target in the sights, but it’s not enough zoom to really tell where to make the adjustments. I end up firing much longer bursts trying to hit them and overheating quite quickly. Which is another thing. The OVERHEAT meter is way too faint. It needs to be made more opaque.
