Im Hoping to see a Dynamic cover system where the AI will crouch, use cover, and defend rather than getting up and walking into open every 3 seconds. If I set them to defend an area they should search out cover intelligently and decide what cover is MOST effective to fight from and will stay in that position and fire defensively at things advancing at them. this allows a much more dynamic squad gameplay and prevents someone from just popping your squad one by one as they run around like lemmings.
you can also tweak accuracy so they dont laser people with every shot but increase their awareness to enemy presence, perhaps they react to gunfire and will look where they hear footsteps and will try to keep themselves safe based on what they hear or see. they can have hit probabilities that decrease with range so they dont wipe people out at extreme range but close up if they survive a charge they can laser people as a player would without much hesitation. maybe even set up an order system to allow them to attack targets the player is looking at or attacking to boost firepower sent at someone
currently squadmates are lemmings with aimbot and only need to look the right direction to demolish someone instantly but they are demolished easily as they dont understand staying in cover
