Drop tank discussion

It seems that early drop tanks required the pilot to firstly drop them, then shoot them to cause them to ignite. Later on, they put a mixture of volatile compounds in the tank to make it self ignite, or so I read off of a source that was linked in the “flaming rain” comments.

So, I think drop tanks are just the test bed for future napalm ordinance. I predict that they will act like massive Molotov with a long burn time. Only issue I can see is how they will balance the drop tank and how it will cause many friendly fire incidents.

Later on, I think napalm additions will be more for drawing a line across the ground rather than a massive Molotov that I predict the drop tank will be.

Also also: Notice how the fighter spawn gets to have the drop tank and not the attacker? I think this is deliberate especially in the pacific where almost no one uses the fighters because they don’t have very good ground ordinance. Thus, a perfect opportunity to test simple napalm mechanics in the early ranks of the tech tree.

So I think the developers are making a good choice, just wish they would use more words.

It all depends on the map and the size of the spill. Pacific maps are very open so the area denial isnt as potent as in othere campains urban maps and thous just turn into glorified bombs that cant kill tanks really. But add cokepoint heavy maps from othere campaines and you might get the most infuriating weapon of all.

And bonus points for having HVARs ( surely needed to overcome the mighty armor of the ha go tank) on the same plane as the droptank.

I honestly think the devs need to start seriously thinking about penalties for friendly fire. Not just for this but all instances.

When its intentional and done for trolling purposes, it needs to be dealt with harshly.

When its unintentional but done out of lack of caution or care, there needs to be warnings and then punishment.

When its unintentional and teammates are literally walking into it due to their own lack of caution, there shouldn’t be penalty.

But how can one possibly draw the line when only each individual knows their reasoning. I could accidentally set my team on fire, but do you think the player getting burned is going to know or care. To them they think I’m trolling. On the other hand there are some players who legitimately are trolling and will purposely burn their teammates. How can we possibly differentiate

I doubt they would just make your team immune to your fire. Maybe at best we’re just going to have to deal with flames for better or worse. If you get burned, welp better to just deal with it

First and foremost by direct hits. If you are hitting your own ranks repeatedly with it, its pretty obvious where you are aiming. If you are hitting out ahead of them, where the enemies are, that’s clearly different.

I think a common answer to this is to provide some kind of forgiveness system so the people getting killed get a say in whether the team killer should be punished. It’s not a perfect system but I think it’s effective enough

I think every type of punishment is very lame.
If you die from your teammate deal with it and respawn, in more than 1000 games it happens to me only 1 once to see a troll in public match.

It is one of the most unrealistic things in this game full of unrealistic stuff, they were never used this way, their was no way to Triger the fuel, and they were so light that they would tumble away from the plane and be imposable to target.

Having said that, idk why this was wanted or needed they could of just made the HE bombs more realist with bigger blast/kill radius against soft targets, not tanks…

Bruh the US one has HVAR… the Japs one has 2 dogshite 60kg bomb
