Does the AI soldier with smg have any advantages?

I have noticed that trooper- and mg AI engage enemy at longer distances, which results in them getting kills, especially mg AI. Assaulter ai seems to be quite inept when compared to the other classes.

Do I have to force the assaulter AI to get close, perhaps medium range, for them to start getting kills?

If we can figure out the cause to their ineptitude, perhaps we can make them more lethal of a cannon fodder.

I think its more they put more bullets down range (the more bullets sent down range, the higher than chance of getting lucky). If you want your bots to have the best chance of getting kills, you want as high a caliber as possible and automatic.

My MG 42 bots and MKB bots do work

that said, Bots to me are just a distraction or free respawn. I dont expect them to do anything but get shot. Having that expectation saves me the frustration my friends have with their bots

you’re right, but here is the thing. Why doesnt that logic apply to bots with smg? troopers with fg42’s (set in auto mode) gets lots of kills, mg is a no-brainer, but smg? that shit doesnt seem to stick on the wall.

smgs are low calibre, the AI fires in small bursts it might hit once or twice but wont kill because smg damage is low. MG 42 or MKB only need 1 or 2 rounds to stick.

I havent noticed different engagent ranges of weapons so much. Cant speak for FG-42 bots.
