Irl if I understand it correctly. If your armor is too thin, epxlosive filler doesn’t activate in some projectiles, and thus the projectile does almost no dmg unless it hits some essential thing like ammo etc.

That is a thing in enlisted.
It is best visible or the trucks or when facing the A13 from the side as those are only 7mm.
If you hop into a Ho-I and flank the A13 your AP will just pass through the tank without exploding only damaging what it touches on its way.
This minimum fuze mechanic has saved so many A13 already that I lost track of it.
