I used to think bolt action rifles were long range only weapons. But after moving the melee key to a more user-friendly arrangement, I found it to be great fun in CQB as well.
At medium range it loses out to the submachine gun, but indoors and in the trenches the bayonet is amazingly strong and great. When I charge with my bayonet at the ready, I can drown in the flood of brain drugs.
I really enjoy BR1-2.

Yes.
Pick targets at range and when opportunity arises, go balls to the wall and fix bayonets!
CQC with bayonet and some shooting is very fun and chaotic.

bolt actions are an art.
hard to tell which one is my favorite.
as i pretty much like all bolties except the type 99 ( late ) and standard m1093 us rifle.
( one is slow af, the other has a terrible sight for my eyes )
but if i were to pick,
Kiregsmodel kar 98 for the wood & sound. ( same category, i would say the MAS )
Enfield no 4 for being fast and 10 rounds,
Vg 2 for 10 rounds and overall detach mags.
type 1 engy rifle for sight and being generally reliable.
and lastly, mosin 91_30 ( the one with the rags ) for being iconic.

Yeah bolts are pretty cool, main reason why i mainly do BR2 as the japanese with 90% bolt loadout.

For low BR:
USA: Springfield USMC
Axis: manlickers. Both.
Japan: classic Arisaka, but I like all, really.
Sovs: Mosin CARBINE (max star it’s great).
Then there’s of higher br whichshouldNOTbehigher:
Allies: Lee Enfield
Axis: Volks bolty (with magazine)
Japan: eh… They’re all alike… same as low br
Sovs: WIN, Chester!

mine is pre war kar 98k and kar 98k for my assault squad 4, so it will reload fast af with the perk

I dont like them, they are obsolete WW I weapons.
But they are cheap to produce so I understand why some armies were using them.
WWI Lee-Enfield and VG2.
Sadly, they belong to BR3.
By the way, developer has not fixed this bug yet.Bolt action speed perk doesn’t work

I like the mas-36 for it’s extra-quick bayonet thrust. All the bolties are fun, but I find the standard rifles to be some of the best: the kar98k, Springfield USMC, type 38 and mosin 91/30. They just work.

I use bolt actions in every BR and are the standard issue weapons I use for majority of my troops unless I’m using non marine US squads.
Every BR I play people still mainly use BAs more than any weapon type in the game.
Oh my favorite Bolt Action rifle is the Kar98. Pretty sure I have more kills with that rifle than any other infantry weapon.

More than “some”, every nation besides the US used bolt actions as their standard issue rifle.
