Do you guys even use top mounted MGs?

I quite often use those MGs as arguments in Tank balance, personally I get a huge amount of kills with them, but I have never seen ppl here talk about cupola MGs at all.

So I have been wondering if I am the only one here who even cares about those?

i use them when i feel safe or when i see someone “sneak by”

I do use the commander MG, but only if I must and enemies are close since I dont like to risk losing my commander. As a Heroes and Generals veteran I only peek out when I must or its tactically advantageous.

Wish we had persistent stats for the game

There is a separate “Killed tank commanders sticking out of the hatch” counter in the end screen and I always love going for the high score :3

I use them quite often in the lower BR brackets for Japan especially on the Ka-Mi, you can rack up a surprising amount of kills. Especially if you can use binos.

some tanks are better than others for it, the Jumbos top MG can really slap sometimes. It really depends just how exposed your commander is because on most tanks the commander is a vital crew member for spotting

Kinda depends on the tank. If the tank has a coax then you generally dont need it as much and the risk to get sniped often is not worth the payout.
For those tanks without a coax you most of the time have to adjust your gameplay to a style where the top mounted gun is not as impactful/needed which in turn makes it less useful for me.

But it is fun to use it to spray at incoming planes which might work or get you killed.

Yes. I either stay the long distance and use it, or I do a quick popout to kill enemies in quick succession. But if you keep your commander out in the open for extended periods (assuming you are not at the back of the map), then you earned yourself a death warrant for your tank commander.

MG damage on tanks needs to be buffed. I’d like to see those explosive-pack spammers get close to me then when they get killed in one shot.

I play peakaboo alot too. Quite funny because they cant shoot you because they have explosive pack or launcher in their hand.

…then you go back in the tank and reload, rinse and repeat
