Do Tank machine gunners work?

I just watched a youtube video of admiral starks game play in a tank. His haul turret went off in a completely different direction then he was looking. My machine gunner has literally never once shot at an enemy in the several months of game play. When i researched on google if they work a while back people said no. Can i get a clear answer on this? Is your bot supposed to fire? I’m on console if that matters.

Yep, it’s already a known bug, it also happens on the M8 greyhound

It’s a shame that the tank machine gunner bot just sits there. I would like to see this bug somehow incorporated into the feature.
I want the bot to only fire at the enemy in the firing range if I, the tank commander, allow it to fire.

if those extra machine gun(ers) can actually fire machine guns autonomously (like the planes machine gunners), tanks would actually be a lot more menacing.
sad they didn’t allow it for whatever reason. lots of vehicle would be a lot more dangerous if they did it…

like the AB41, they would have a much safer rear and would be a scary menace running around the field. other tanks would also be more menacing too when charging forward. makes it a very daunting challenge to actually run up to a tank from the face side as an infantry.

Happens on the Pacific Stuart I believe as well if that’s what we’re talking about

Tanks get 1 player controlled MG - plus a commander MG if fitted.

If the tank has a coaxial MG then you get to use that, if it doesn’t then you get a hull MG if there’s one fitted - but you have to be playing hte hull machine gunner to use it.

Thought i had it all clear untill now.

None of my tanks (u.s.) let me switch to the machine gunner soldier. This is possible?

American tanks all have co-ax machineguns IIRC, so the hull MG position is not playable.

Try Japanese tanks.

Infrantry bots use HMGs.
Planes have bot tailgunners.
Why not give tanks bot machinegunners?

Because there’s a premium Sentinel tank with working hull mg to be sold.

I have had working bot mg firing but cant recall what tank it was in now. I thought it was standard but doesn’t happen with Japanese tanks.
