Do Skill Points (speed, vitality, weapon handling) Affect Stats or Just Determine Your Perk Choices?

Each soldier has speed, vitality, and weapon handling skills. Do these improve your stats or do they only determine what perks you can choose?

For instance, will an assaulter with 10 weapon handling have less recoil than one with 4? Will 10 vitality have more HP than 4?

By combining certain troops in the academy you can prioritize certain skills so it’d be cool if there was a meta there. Build a tanky assaulter or an assaulter that beams people.

just determeted the perks choose since all soldiers will have 10 HP without any health increasing perks

You can’t.

Every “star levels” have the same stats probabilities for every and each class and even grade of soldiers. Once a soldier “levels up” from the academy, his own class stats bonus gets added (or substracted) from the base stats obtained.

Rough example:
You combine three 2 stars soldiers of different classes to gain a 3 star soldier. Just under the “training” timer in the academy you will see the silhouette of a soldier with say numbers “8-10” for vitality, speed, weapon handling. This means that WHATEVER 3 star class you will obtain WILL have BASE stats in those ranges. Then, the class itself of the soldier obtained (say a trooper gives 5 speed) will add their bonuses to those.

Say you got lucky and got a 15 / 10 / 10. It means you obtained the best possible stats for a trooper 3 stars (10/10/10 + trooper speed bonus of 5= 15/10/10)
Those numbers are for examples only, I’m on my phone and don’t have the exact stats values.

This is why grade II, or III classes are more useful, as their stats bonuses are higher, thus making it easier to learn the best possible perks, or even add 2 medium perks at once.

Every “star levels” have the same stats probabilities for every and each class and even grade of soldiers. Once a soldier “levels up” from the academy, his own class stats bonus gets added (or substracted) from the base stats obtained.

What I was referring to is that certain classes have certain weights. If you put two assaulters and add a sniper, you’ll pull up the range for weapon handling but pull down the range of vitality.

No…

It’s what I tried to explain. It doesn’t matter wich 3 classes you mix up in academy, the base stats ranges for 2 stars, 3 stars, 4 stars and 5 stars are the same for everyone. Only the bonuses added once you obtain the final leveled soldier differ from classes to classes, but those are fixed and won’t change because different classes were “used” to obtain a superior star lvl soldier.

So if a trooper 2 gives as a bonus (example) +5 weapon handling, and an assaulter gives +5 vit.
If you use in academy 1 trooper and 2 assaulters, and in end result obtain a superior star lvl trooper, the bonus will STILL just be +5 weapon handling.

(Values are just for example purpose)
