Pacific is the only campaign where tanks don’t have much influence on the battlefield because of difficult terrain but the problem is the spam of AA guns are much worse there than other campaigns.
Are you talking about the Type 97 MG which has a tank scope on it? Sure 7.7mm Arisaka but the problem is the tank scope while its good on range to short burst, I mostly have to hipfire it on close range.
I want to try the Type 96 LMG itself despite its 6.5mm like early Arisakas and the Fedorov and see how this compare to the ZB-26, Bren and Vickers-Berthier.

Kars are great. Best AXIS rifle 
SECOND best rifle in game (with the damage boost, VZ bonus isn’t that important anymore)
There’s just no beating Lee Enfield however.
- crazy bullet cycle speed.
- top notch accuracy
- perfect iron sight (thought I admit so is the Kar’s)
- 10 bullets fully loaded!
Only thing is that it doesn’t come with grenade launchers. But I don’t really use those. Always found that it’s faster downing enemies by shooting straight at them than lobbing grenades.
(But that’s just me)
Behind that facade however hides the true master of bolties, hiding in plain sight, destroyer of worlds…

Oh yeah speaking of surprising them, I was playing in Moscow against a greyzone camping T-34. I pulled out my PZ.III J and pixel hunted his turret and popped his gunner. He clearly thought it was a fluke because he never moved the tank after that and I slowly killed all 4 of his crew as they each jumped into the gunner seat till the tank died.
He then tried to bomb me in a plane then suicide himself with detpack to kill me. It was glorious.

Russians have rockets, IL is a sponge, and if those superior glorious soviet mains have skill, they should be able to kill tanks with 6x100kg bombs if so-called nooby Wehraboos like me can kill small T-60s with 50kg bombs.
So… its up to taste I guess.

For sights, yes I do love the 98k (not so much prewar). Its always going to be a comfortable rifle to shoot, but my Favorite from a performance perspective (i.e. the one I am most effective with) is the Mochato M91 on the premium Tunisia squad.
Its a combination of the right campaign with good sight lines, a good clean set of sights, a fast cycling bolt, and of course en enbloc which allows for fast reloads.
In terms of my effectiveness it goes:

Lee Enfield/ Ross
98k / Type 99
M91 (Stalingrad)
VZ24

What about the new Pacific rifles? I have a soft spot for the arikasa 38 rifle. Cheap, reasonably accurate, great cycle speed, ok sight and damage.
The Enfield on USA side is also quite fun.

So for the Pacific I try and form an opinion after a few hundred battles. Sitting at 112 I think, I dont want to be hasty.
But, from a quick assessment, I’m not a huge fan of the 38 Carbine, the 38 regular is nicer, and I’m confident in my abilities with it. Type I I could do without, although I’m a fan of Italian Pattern rifles, its not a favorite for me.
That type 99 though. Love at first sight.
Slower ROF for sure, but good focus and sight and something I’m comfortable with fielding on well over half my troops.
Pacific is the perfect campaign for Bolts so I’ve been enjoying it.

It’s actually fun, I play Japan and set TNT charges (which we need in every campaign), dig trenches, set traps for the apple pie baseball John Wayne team…
I would say the campaign is even or even slightly Axis favored at end-game, but unfortunately Allies have significant advantage at lower levels which tips the scales.
