Plane bombs are easily ruining some games, part of the community expects changes in this regard. I’ve seen comments suggesting to add teamkill to reduce bombing the active war zones. I don’t think that’s a good idea, it goes too much against the current forgiving style of squad mode, so if possible, please avoid it.
Instead make bombs that would do several teamkills not to go off and explode at all. (More refined version below.)
Long:
The bad parts of current mechanics:
it’s too hard to kill bomber planes
the big bombs have a huge blast radius, bigger than what the visuals and the sound suggest
hard to use them around such small cap zones
they do lot of unexpected kills (when you’re killed in buildings or trenches - at least it was so for a while)
rendering distance for planes is very bad, they don’t see the actual ground units until last seconds
bombs kill only the enemy making it a good idea to bomb places where there’s fight (as far as I know only if you crash before explosion, are teammates harmed currently)
Pros and cons of adding teamkill:
pro: adding teamkill would solve/greatly reduce cap zone bombing (by fixing last point)
pro: it would make it important to target zones far from teammates (realism)
con: bombs are not instantaneous and not displayed on map, so friendly squads have time to move to bad position triggering “innocent” teamkills
con: if there is no penalty for friendly fire in very simple rifle mode, why should there be penalty for a harder to master weapon? (Artillery is easier to use, I think it’s OK to have teamkill there.)
con: by moving away from cap zone, the only thing remains to be bombed is the spawn zone and the route to cap zone. I think it’s much worse to get killed by bomb before reaching the enemy.
con: it would probably greatly reduce plane usage or willingness of new pilots to practice. I like planes flying above.
con: those players who enjoy harming teammates would get the perfect tool to do so
There was an earlier suggestion regarding bombs, refining “bombs not exploding”. Calculate how much harm is done to team and enemy, and add back the HP loss that our team would suffer to the enemy, either evenly or going from blast perimeter in. So if 2 teammates and 3 enemy would die of friendly bomb, instead make it so that only one enemy dies, nearest to bomb (or whatever HP suggest, it might be 0 to 3 depending on who were full health).
If teamkill is the only way to go, then I’d suggest a somewhat smaller blast radius for own team in squad mode.
I would fully agree with you if this game is HLL or something like that, where the two teams are not forced into a very small place. With current issues listed above, I don’t see how teamkill could be implemented properly so that both infantry and pilots still enjoy the game.

I think this would be harder to implement than an actual nerf though. What we may see is a temporary nerf and a longer term solution further down the road.
i swear i dropped a bomb earlier and blue names showed up in the kill feed haha maybe a glitch? or just extremely good timing with someone else dropping a bomb.
With the current system, if the pilot dies before dropping the bombs, everyone on the ground will receive damage, no matter if it’s an enemy or teammate.
As for the original poster (Andris42), I’m sorry, but I don’t agree with you. Friendly fire + penalty for team kill like on lone fighter mode will most certaintely stop the plane spam abuse. There’s plenty of areas to bomb besides the objective, it won’t be the end of the world.
I will say it without any shame, until they’re fixed, I’ll abuse the crap out of planes. There’s 0 fun in that, but as long as I get my XP and I don’t break any rules, I don’t really care. If anyone tells me that in the current state of the game you need skills to drop bombs, then that person is either a troll or total noob. Just yesterday I was switching between my 3 planes (all 3 equipped with bombs) and I managed to stop the enemy team all by myself (not to mention that the spawn distance for the plane was like 2000 something metres, which made my bombing spam even easier than usual). You can guess how much fun the enemy team had, especially the new players .
It’s pretty obvious, IMO, this is a problem that needs a solution. I am not sure, however, one exists.
Perhaps reduce the spawn time of planes. It is pretty silly that folks can spawn multiple planes, go suicide mode, then do it again.
It certainly is not fun to get spammed constantly with plane bombs. Nor is it realistic, as in most environments air cover was not available due to weather or other limiting factors.
But then again every battle didn’t have tanks either. Or many of the weapons being used.
Just extend the respawn time for both planes and tanks by 5 minutes. Also require them to return for refuel/rearm (we run out of ammo, they should as well).
When I bomb I don’t hit allies at all. The only time I bomb on top of my allies is if our site is getting captured while our guys aimlessly sit around the site. I don’t know if those are full ai squads or what
I think this game is infantry centered and pilots should be support not the other way around. really hate pilots with top kills shouting to team members “CAPPPPPP MFkers I’m carrying all of you” lol.
Put Team Kill ON on plane bombing and you heal Normandy campaign.
everboby is complaing whith the bomber aircraft, and THIS IS WAR, i complete agree whit doing aircraft make fridely fire. since i am a hardcore gamer. i don,t care if bombs is falling from sky, also. I belive that real men kills people whit a bolt fire rifle.
still, if the bombers do colateral damage to they very own team, we need someting to spot better, Binaculars maybe? it,s simple. and could be give to randio men gears, after all. arty and plnes need cordinates to do proprer they own job.
Most of plane spam abuse can be stopped by other means. As many wrote before. Better AA, less tough planes, better maneuverability for fighters and worse for bombers, lots of extra XP for plane kills, suicide bombers not given a new plane for like 5 minutes, limited number of refills etc.
I’m speaking about a different thing here, that shapes the style of the game. Yes, the planes can be stopped by friendly kills alone, but it’s not the right way in my opinion for squads mode.
So far I was killed by enemy bombers, now I will be killed by teammates’ bombs as well, what do I win by that exactly?
Actually I realized I write too much about countering planes but not attempting it, so I tried and AA can kill slow planes and ones arriving from the right direction, but setting it up and using takes a lot of time. But best single shot kill was with PTRD-41.
Had that yesterday too:
2 of us were going after a tank, then this idiot crashed when he bombed and wiped out half of both of our squads. Luckily we still revived and took it out.
Really that’s why I say AA is useless.
It takes too much prep to set it up and keep it manned, planes still need to come from the right direction and angle for you to get a shot off at them, by the time you see them they already bombed the objective, and a new one will spawn immediately anyway.
