Worst thing about Enlisted is its horrible matchmaking based on BR instead of having one based on player performance. I read somewhere that we won’t get a new system until more players join but this is what keeps new players from joining and staying. If you go to steam and read the negative reviews most are mentioning matchmaking as the main reason for their negative review.
If this game is to survive DF can’t afford to wait for more players before changing the matchmaking system - they wont stay past BR 2 unless they are somewhat masochistic or really like a challenge. If they are casual they are gone long before they reach that.
“Matchmaking is pretty awful, at least at BR1, where I am. Just like in WT, the basis seems to be Battle Rating, not ELO, so its pretty common to run into a stack of good players on the enemy team, while your own team is just getting to grips with the game. Those games are pretty unenjoyable, as you’ll just keep getting clapped by better players”
“You will most likley uninstall the game within 1hr of gameplay due to annoyance”
“If you want fun, stay at br1-br2 at least there are less p2w terminators and all negative stuff”
“if you intend on casualy play after a long day of work then forget about it the game matchmaking is attrocious your gonna be like that small white girl surrounded by 5 black guy meme in every matches but if you enjoy to try hard and be sweaty this is a game for you”
and so on and so on…
There are not enough of skilled players to match them against each other. Game’s population is too tiny for that.
And if it’s similar ELO for 20 players in lobby it will lead to unfun stomps where game decides that you shall lose/win this match as every player has to have communist 50% WR at all times. Hardcore SBMM system ruined Cod, only soft system could work for Enlisted. Instead of stomps every 3-5 matches you will have stomps every match.
Cod doesn’t have vehicles how could you judge if that player is good or bad? Just KDR and WR is not enough. Higher KDR may means that player refuses to go on the points, sends his bots back and farms kills.

Also people using smurf accounts or tanking there win loss in order to club noobs.

i can see it - $20 for acc with 10 ELO while average player has 400 ELO
Honestly, I think the issue is more that the new player matchmaking is insufficient. 2-3 matches is just not enough. Expand new player matchmaking to completion of Tier 1 to get people used to the game and revamp the new player experience with tooltips over the course of a few games introducing new things over time. Longer new player matchmaking would mean more players in them instead of mostly bots too.
Should also be clear you are in new player matchmaking. Have a pop up that if you party up with a non new player you will be put in normal matchmaking not new player for the duration of the party.
Personally, Im against SBMM and similar systems … mostly because it destroys casual play and it destroys the ability to have fun with friends of different skill levels. If anything, have a ranked matchmaking that rotates what factions are used each BP or something in its own matchmaker, seperate from the main one. Think Even Fight events of old
Determining a players skill level is hard, since many people suck, but play enough with good players that they win a lot of games. Rank means nothing as well, as a retired or unemployed shitty player might have a lot of time on their hands to just keep climbing the ranks.
What ruins games for me are groups, as they organize and the average solo player and his solo mates do not, so you’re usually in for a bad game when you’re against a group. My suggestion is that groups should play other groups, and solo players play solo players. There should be an option before you click start to choose to play solo only if you don’t want to get stuck with or against groups. Groups and shitty bots ruin most of my games.
