Distance limit of orders is just bs

“defend here” is canceled after about 50mtr.
this limit makes radio operator squads obsolete. radio operator,s main power is their ability to call artillery frequently. because of this limit they have to fight in close combats or wait very near to skirmishing area. you lose your radio operator before even using their ability generally efficiently.
this is why i hate to use radio operator squad
you have to use them as regular rifleman but they are not numerous like basic rifleman squads and cant add them too much infantry.
this limit dimihisnes their ability they are reduced to useless infantry.
developers should increase the metre limit or completely abondon it

My recommendation is that you don’t actually fight with the Forward Observer Team.

You follow up the line of advance and defend from flankers. Use your Engineer to rebuild destroyed spawns and your Assaulter/MG to defend yourself from flank rushes.

Find a good building to hole up in, drop your defend this location order (to stop the AI from killing off your ROs by running around with them), close formation and turn your troops to aggressive so that they have a chance to defend themselves, and provide a combination of smoke and HE - smoke when ppl are trying to get to the objective and HE once you see your teams trying to cap it, and you want to deny enemy reinforcements to the cap.

The only section I personally have a radio in is my radio section, and that section has only three men in it, Two radios one engineer, I use the engineer to build rallies as we fall back while defending, if we’re attacking I trie to do the same but the primary objective is to stay alive, and to use my radios to their best effect.

My radio operators are equipped with one rifle and one semi auto rifle, The latter I use if the range drops for some reason but for the most part I try to use my rifle to Snipe with.

And my engineer to replenish with if necessary.

As suggested above I don’t engage in CQB when I’m using my radio station.

The entire point is that it forces combat. Without such a limit, it would be very easy for players to play de-facto lone soldiers by hiding their squad somewhere and going in one soldier at a time. As ideal as that would be, it also would stretch matches out forever and wouldn’t be very fun to play against.

If you aim at a point you can tell them to sit on the point and that lasts up to like 200m

You should always have a sniper in the radio squad.

I found that I don’t really need one, especially now, just iron sites can pretty much tag and kill everything I want, mostly I play axis in Tunisia and the 1891 was always great a killing at range even before the BA buff.

The defend here order being canceled is to prevent players from using their bots as just extra lives and tries to enforce the whole Player + AI v Player + AI, which you’ll also notice when sent to control a point, the order won’t cancel if you get far away from your squad.

Plus try using radio op squad as a mid-range support from afar, try adding MG, engi, and Sniper so you can have someone to (hopefully) attract the attention, someone to build rallies / ammo, and someone for range if need be.
