I’m pretty sure the German army never issued a single copy of the ZH-29, and there seem to only ever have been a few hundred produced in total, yet it’s a mainstay of the German lineup in-game. It doesn’t even seem like the Czechs used them, just exported them. They look pretty though.
some fg42 variants also could use ZB mg magazines, though the didnt fit too well in some cases.
czechoslovakia was a main production area for german weapons and the harmonized the mags and even tank parts for standardized production/implementation.
im quite thankfull it is in this game, but its the devs who decided they want more semi auto rifles in campaign even when imo they were not needed and i would be satisfied even with more reailistic guns available for that period. Also ZH-29 is in tunis which is even more disturbing, they should add some variant with 20 round mag as gold order gun
You could almost draw a line from the hundred rifles purchased by Ethiopia to the Italians in Tunisia, but who needs to? I’ve made my peace with anachronistic weapons in this game, I do find it funny when people pick out single examples to complain about when the same could be said for most of the guns in any given campaign.
there is so much of this historical inaccuracies that the list of them would be just too long so i understand when someone picks only one example because player with enough IQ and hours in enlisted will take the picture anyway
At least ZH-29 is not a meta weapon and isn’t spammed, unlike AVT, FG, M2 ect.
I never liked the ZH-29 but since most players just use the Gewehr41, me included, I don’t mind seeing since that is rare.
I recently heard that the Japanese captured a number of zh29s in China, a handful apparently were even brought back to the US by soldiers as war trophies. When you think about it the rifle would make more sense in the Pacific than some of the other campaigns.
