Did Probability of Ammo Detonation Decrease?

From my experience, I feel that probability of tank ammo detonation under certain amount of damage (tested: APHE round, TNT charge and explosive pack) might have been decreased since the “wind system and dispersion” major update.

May I ask is this an intended change or a bug? If it is intended, how is it done? (like change damage-detonation probability calculation or change tank armour model or change explosive damage model?)

I have the feeling that TNT bundles are not as effective in killing tanks as they used to be

Yeah, this is difficult to tell why as it could also be due to delete of automatic throwing. Any program parameters from developers wiould be helpful.

I’ve noticed significant issues with explosives on Pacific especially since that update. Even the lack of ability of the bombs to break TREES now seems quite ridiculous. (Trying to showcase wind?)
Definitely having issues with HE and AP alike.

Yes, TNT and Sprengladung are fucking weak now. Try it on training field and you will see it. You have to place the Sprengladung direct under the tank to blow him up. The automatik mechanism after 7 seconds are removed.
TNT make hardly NOTHING by placing it on the back of the tank… MANY TX for that Developers

I can not make a comment about is this positive or negative, because we even do not know is this intended or a bug at this stage.

But previously TNT charges and explosive packs are more likely to one shot tanks by detonate its ammunition, but now they sometimes kill one crew near the explosion point, ammunition of the tank is damaged (turn yellow on x-ray kill cam) but not detonated, and the tank is still able to fight. This also applies to some APHE shell.

I’ve noticed that lately, regular kill shots (ammo racking) don’t seem to work as well anymore, not to mention explosive bundles seem nerfed recently since I’ve been barraged by then in my Panzer IV and took them a couple of tries to blow me up and vise versa. I’ll try to test it later tonight on the practice area.

Also of note, minor but molotovs have wiped my tank out more than explosive bundles as of recently

They 100% nerfed Explosive packs. It’s beyond stupid how noticeable it is for it not to be intended. They simply do not reliably explode tanks anymore.

You can land them ON the goddamn tanks now and they still might not do bugger all when they explode.

I put 2 TNT onto the engine backtop and they still didn’t blow up a tank it’s a goddamn joke.

The dev’s need to stop catering to the 24/7 vehicle crowd, no matter how good that whale money is from them buying all those slots so they can run all vehicles all the time; this games gameplay gets worse when tanks get unkillable.

If people run out into the magic killing field of the grey zone and can get the TNT onto the tank it for SURE better blow up not a game of will it wont it.

They’ve allready made it far too easy to sit back and spam HE into the cap sites from what can only be described as liberally drawn borders for the grey zone for them to continue to suck off the tanker crowd in an infantry game like this.

Like if I wanted to play matches and get thrown against unkillable tanks that’s warthunder isn’t it?

They previously nerfed explosive pack against infantry, I am not sure is explosive pack nerfed this time. From my experience, TNT charge and some tank shells are also nerfed, so it is still possible to be a bug (in fact some vehicles are becoming less effective as well because they do not one shot enemy vehicle any more). Still waiting for any community helpers to give a precise answer.

It largely depends on the server connections. I play this game long enough to know exactly where to throw the detpack in order to destroy the tank and yet sometimes those damn explosives are not even scratching the tank.
Absolutely frustrating but it is like it is.
Worst Case scenario: Having bad server connections and playing Stalingrad against the KV-1. Dont even try it, just avoid the tank. I’ve spent once 6 detpacks and 6 TNT’s, well placed at the hatch /motorblock. Nothing.
Next game: 1 detpack. KV-1 immidiately down.

TnT got nerfed hard, can confirm,

would be nice tho if these kinds of nerfs would be in the patchnotes, but ninja patches happen nonstop in Enlisted.

Have you made more comparisons to make sure it is TNT been nerfed not armoured vehicles been buffed? I also feels that APHE from T-28E and T-34-85 are less possible to detonate ammo, I survived a quite a lot of shots as only turret crews are killed but ammo is fine, in the past it was usually one shot.

From update 0.4.3.12 today, I found this bug or change have been partially fixed or rolled back.

Edit: maybe only fixed on some vehicles (tested: Panzer IV variants and Panzer II C), some vehicles (tested: T-34-85, SU-85M, 38t F, and Panzer III J) are still very unlikely to undergo ammo detonation. Looks like the devs are changing this probability to every single vehicles for balance but bring an unstable and inconsistent game experience to players.
