this part is definately true, as when I am in a slow plane, instead of trying to run when being attacked, I make it slower to the point where a fighter has more trouble slowing down to my speed, especially if he is moving fast trying to catch me. Throttle down the engine, drop the flaps, deploy the airbrake and hope he flies by into my sites, which has happened quite a few times. I’ll be shooting at him with my rear gunner, and as soon as I can see he cannot get slowed and is going to zoom by, I switch to my pilot and try and get guns on target as soon as I can and it doesn’t take many rounds from my forward guns to bring them down.

It’s a risky maneuver that gives one one chance basically: a good pilot will indeed zoom by
but will then climb right over you knowing you just depleted almost all your energy reserves
then just dive on you

But sometimes a risky maneuver is all you have
So you got yo try!

Just another for fun. No bomber formation was called by the enemy (but plenty from my side, giving them free kills)

Remember. “Jabo sucks”

Well, when your in a Dauntless Dive bomber, there really is no speed to scrub off, it’s pretty much gone to begin with. :joy: Same with the Stuka, but it’s not as feeble as the Dauntless, and the Stuka is far more durable. Usually if I am playing Allies and in the Dauntless, I just assume when a fighter rolls up on me I am doomed anyway. The Su-2 is not quite as slow, so I don’t use the same tactics with it as it does have some speed compared to other dive bombers. The last fighter I took down with my hit the brakes method was in my Stuka and P38 was coming in hot and heavy, I slammed on the brakes, I saw him wiggle back and forth trying to get slowed, then bailed from it when he knew he couldn’t slow enough and he went right over the top of me. Two seconds later he was in flames on his way to meet his maker. That one everything went as planned, and I love it when a plan comes together.

I don’t use the Dauntless much anymore since I am back to playing level three allies and I use the Mustang.
