Developer Stream Q&A February 2022 - in few words

hello again folks.

this thread is mainly about the answers and questions that we got from this stream:

it was hosted by @AlvanTolk and a game developer named pablo/pavlo ( sorry, mic quality wasn’t very good so unfortunately, i couldnt get the name right. ).

since, today i had a free day off from work due to not happening much at “my” company, i decided to make one of those results type of things again. as i understand that not everyone has time for watch the full stream.

so… someone has to do it. might as well be me for today.

KEEP IN MIND

that for the sake of time, some of the answer and questions have been simplified due to, being either too elaborated for just saying yes or no, or too technical to a point where it gets irrelevant ( no disrespect towards anyone of course ). plus, i made it for an easier reading.
( but i still recommend it to watch it. perhaps it’s a bit better to hear while doing something else.)

question number one:

Q: we saw the introduction of the train mode, will this gamemode be available for others campaign as well?
A: ( short answer: ) Yes.
we are planning to release more armored trained content. and we will extend it to other campaign as well.

not only that, but the team is also working with new experimentations of new types of gamemodes that could be interesting.

side note: " we want to make the train gamemode abit shorter and separate it into different missions "

Q: what about mission balancement. any plans?
A: we have updated the balance from time to time, and this year we will update the mission balance more often. we have already have released a big balance patch yesterday, and we are going to release them every 2 weeks. we are also improving our tools for more details statistic analysis. so yes, balance will be constantly improved.

Q: many players like the tournament test, when will we have more of them?
A: we are currently working on the UI improvement as well as the rating calcolation algorithm based on the players feedback. ( but no concrete answer. so my guess based on what i heard, yes but not in the near future )

Q: Players liked the modern event, will be extended, or be used in a separate game?
A: the ww2 will remain the main theme of the game. and more events like the modern one will appear. ( short answer: ) the modern event will might appear in the future.

Q: any words on animations?
A: we often discuss about this issue, and we will apply new improvements and bug fixes related to animation in the near future for example radio operators getting stucked after calling support. but there are many things we want to work on. in the long term, we hope to update the animation system in the game.

A: what about pre gen consoles?
Q: we are currently and will work about optimization

A: any words on gray zone campers ( infantry and tanks) will you do anything?
Q: it’s not an easy one. we will try to address this issue by making the battle area wider, and trying to avoid good positions being acessible by only one team. if this is not enough, we will think about additional matters.

A: do you read the feedbacks and opinion from players?
Q: yes, it is not always possible to respond to all the questions. we have a whole team of helpers and community managers who regularly collect feedbacks and pass it to us, and also the developers read the main forum and social networks. keep in mind that major changes are based by players feedbacks.
remember, your feedbacks are usefull for us. and we want to make more regular polls in the near future.

Q: Sometimes the interface is not user friendly, any words on it?
A: Yes, that is true. we are constantly working on it to improve it.

Q what about suicider bombers? any punishment planned?
A: we are going to increase the delay before the bomb explosions to make suicide bombers on below attitudes less effective.
(?)

Q: are you going to add campaign levels in the middle instead of at the bottom
A: for now, we will continue to add content at the end of the campaigns. but in the future we will consider the idea.

Q: any words on AI improvements?
A: we are upgrading AIs within every updates and we are trying to make more noticable

Q: any words on bunnyhopping?
A: we are thinking about the shooting while jumping more limited and tweak the drop shooting.

in conclusion, a few side notes from me, unfortunately, they haven’t talked about much else and they have been largely vague in some of the answers. for example what type of gamemodes, which way the interface will be improved?, ( but that’s just my opinion ).

campaign levels will not be discussed in Q & A because devs thinks they deserve an entire thread on their own. so we have no idea what and when the next one will be released.

they also mentioned about full turnament gamemodes and modding. but also those deserved an entire on their own ( as they said ).

so yeah, that’s basically it.

now, i’ll go make something else.

they could just say in a tweet “We are working in the game” and we would have the same info as we have now after the “Q&A” :joy:

but hey, better than nothing.

i’m glad they will make more polls and be more active with the community.

Thank you, could watch only half of it. Neither sweet nor sour by the way, I already knew that they wouldn’t give us a lot of information (aka almost zero), but still something

Thank you for taking notes and posting here.

You just saved me watching and listening to 34 mins of total rambling of not much.

You missed keofox committing war crimes in game :joy:

Ahhh was that Keofox’s game play.

Ah ok, guess I will have to watch now then lol

" Q what about suicider bombers? any punishment planned?

Suicide bombers are annoying ofc, but what about just removing points if u die within 10 sec of a kill, done. Bomb delays are annoying and frustrating when taking out tanks with airplanes.

that doesn’t sound a good solution to me though…

But we’ll see…

Ty @ErikaKalkbrenner for the resume.

I didn’t even know about this.

Feels like the questions were picked regarding what they are current working.

Meh

Seems like a really strange way to go about it to me. It isnt significant enough to stop suicide bombing, and its not like you drop them from a great height when not suiciding either

It uses to be the case that if you died before your bombs blew, the kills would just be credited to “enemy”.

I thought this was a good way to not reward suicide bombers, but I guess it was just a bug since they patched it out.

They spoked ( or rather, vaguely mentioned ) about new game modes

Still, dunno what those will be, but hey, new content.

Which those does not involve half tracks, but its potential content.

Thank you for this, it’s really helpful
I knew there was this video but was too busy looking (hearing) at all of it myself

Thank you very much! You saved me a lot of time. Great contribution to the community!

Yes, very nice.

I don’t think lack of point will actually deter them in many cases - especially for defensive teams - the object of them is to just get kills and then get back in the game ASAP.

So there’s is an obvious counter to this - and that is a longer cool down for respawning - it directly addresses at least part of the motivation (IMO) - perhaps a 30 second respawn delay if you die within 5-10-whatever seconds of dropping bombs?

Yeah, or as i mentioned in another thread punish them by a penalty of X Points, this way they’ll think twice about that. Don’t think punishing the experience for all and making mechanics annoying for everyone is the way to go.

I doubt the effectiveness of this

Or if the pilot dies within x amount of seconds, the enemy teams gets all kills back onto their ticker. If you do it twice maybe a 30 second response delay for you. Each time add a response delay punishment and add enemy ticket marks back on and it eliminates the issue. You still could kill yourself 5 seconds after dropping the bombs but you’d actually have to drop the bombs to some degree of accuracy, which is essentially the issue, people turning their planes into a big bomb and aiming instead of developing pilot skills.
