Basically the title. I once was playing on Gare de Saint-Lo map and someone decided that it was a great idea to build a rally on the highest storey of the tower (the one that can be a second objective), literally cover the whole staircase in barbed wire and build all ten sandbag walls he could on the floor with the rally. And when I started dismantling his “fortress”, he started pushing the rest of my squad off of the tower.
So I’m asking the question: why the option of dismantling team’s rallies was disabled? I think that it would be way better to bring it back into the game. Although maybe without possibility to give order to dismantle to your AI, because I’ve died way to many times having built an AT cannon to destroy a tank and having it dismantled by one of my AI soldiers that I’ve ordered to help me built, but he arrived to it only after it was built and started dismantling it.
The option was disabled because retards like that cried
›build rally in retarded/rat spot that hinders all the AI and players from leaving
›NOOO YOU CAN’T BREAK MY RALLY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I’m sure there was some griefing and people mistaking friendly ones for enemy, but it was an incredibly useful feature
I mean, I admit to having built a rally in the attic once or twice myself. That’s why I think that having an option to built a rally point as just your own would be a good alternative (if someone really likes camping that much that they need a rally in their favorite spot and doesn’t want anyone to be pissed by this).
Yeah locking it for yourself if you put it in a specific area like that would be great
I agree with you fully
What if I told you the problem is not the rally point mispaclement, but the bot pathfinding?
In some cases yes, like with the attic. But when some exceptionally bright player decides to build a rally on Lehrter Bahnhof water tower, you have to use ladder to get down, and do so under enemy fire. So what ended up happening (yes, this happened to me) was half of our team was on the water tower with more people spawning from time to time (thinking the rally was on the ground) and like five enemy players were shooting at us constantly.
So yes, sometimes it is just an AI issue, but not always.
it’s more of an “exploit” since it is so rare it doesn’t affect the balance of the game. Never saw something like this before.
What I commonly see is when a raly point is put in places Bot can not escape, resulting in a blob of friendly forces stuck in a place where they are useless while 6 people attack alone without their squad.
And for the “locking rally point” that’s imperialism: death to the privatisation of the rally point by an elite bourgoisie.
Can you not just throw an explosive pack on it then commit suicide, i saw a guy do that earlier to my ammo box I’m just not 100% sure how
No, not with rallies. You can’t dismantle them with the Y key (or whichever it is) either.
Basically hold X to cancel all orders as soon you hear dismantling sound, bots are just dumb they will not take your build order when there is slightest of combat or gunfire going on, they just prefer to ignore orders. One of my AI got stuck in a time loop, he would come and strike one hammer on my building then go back outside fire one shot, again come inside and strike one hammer, again go out to take a shot again and again.
Bots should blindly follow build orders even if they die in the process.
agreed
would you have a suggestion for which button (include pc, ps, xbox)
Again stupid idea.
Don’t like rally?Build rally better!
It’s not about me not building rallies and complaining about other people not doing it either. It’s about people building rallies in stupid places and other players spawning there thinking these are good rallies and getting their whole AI squad stuck.
I very love this cases, when teammate spawn on my rally demolish it and build his rally on my place.
It’s was so cool!Lets go return it!
So what’s your solution to the problem of people losing battles because some idiot built a rally in the attic or on the water tower and the rest of the battle one team essentially playing in lone fighters because of all of their AI squadmates being stuck?
Add ability mark this rally as bad.
Improved AI.
Add brain to this players, who use bad rally.
Every time build rally by yourself.
Second, third and fourth points are definitely ones we can all agree with. Although unfortunately the third one can’t be fixed easily (fourth can’t either in Tunisia because devs put Engineer squad at level 9 in their infinite wisdom).
As for the first one, if you were annoyed by people destroying your rallies and building their own in the same place, people marking your rallies as bad and building their own in the same place would be just as bad. That’s why I think that if you don’t want the dismantling mechanics, an ability to build your rallies as “personal” would be great - you won’t be pissed because of people destroying your rally in the attic and others won’t be pissed by being baited to spawn there and habing their whole squad locked.
Just let the rally point be marked as unreliable.
It’s better to call my good rally a bad one than to break my rally and build a new one on it to farm the experience.
So why not a possibility to build a “personal” rally just for yourself (and your squadmates if you’re playing with friends)?
This way:
- normal players won’t destroy rallies because they would still be indestructible for teammates, they won’t discourage people from spawning on them by marking them as bad (which, if implemented, would work in a similar way to destroying friendly rallies, like you described - people would mark your rally as bad and build their own nearby to get XP).
- Campers won’t be annoyed by half a team of bots on their rally in the attic or by people destroying their rallies.
