I hated the AP mines until I adapted to avoiding them and then started utilizing them. However, I die far more often from overused Artillery then I every have from AP mines. 
At times on some maps, no one takes anything because everyone on both sides is constantly dying from Artillery.
What is the use of placing only one APmine? Limiting the quantity and assigning everything to a specific profession is foolish.This will only make you angry because your AI inexplicably died and you have lost the weapon you need. (It must be mentioned here that we are not so concerned about losing anti tank personnel because we have explosives and TNT as substitutes.)I would rather use a less powerful weapon, but I must be able to find it when needed.
AP mines are still effective for AI soldiers nowadays, but they are not as effective for players anymore. AI has taken on bad things for you, which is also good.
