And at least there’s still some bodies around So not everything has rotten away yet

Wouldn’t be that realistic, unless you knew you were attacking beforehand it’s not like you’d have much in the way of foreknowledge to prepare, and even that is just the best case scenario and isn’t guaranteed (offensives are often secret, or put together in the last minute as a counter attack). Making specialist load-outs or generalist ones is a logistical and tactical decision people both in real life and in game should be expected to make.
One or two more slots should instead be provided for everyone, a much better solution, then you can afford to specialize more.

If you follow the link, you’ll see that this post is very old. The developers clearly have no common sense. From what I’ve seen, Euthymia07 goes on about how we should create multiple topics on the same subject if we want to achieve anything, so I decided to resurrect this old post.
Why not i would easily use X3 MG42 100 squads on defense while being able to spam FG42 on attack
At least it would stop some matches from being so one sided if we had defender loadouts.

Think of it not as soldiers changing loadout but as high command deploying more attack/defence focused units. Still not ideal but imo enough for a suspension of disbelief.
