Man, I forgot how insane this game’s grind is when you aren’t using any boosters. The grind is LONG. I really wish they just did what they did with Stalingrad. It would have been more fun, in my honest opinion. Like, 20 something dollars for a full campaign and quicker leveling, instead of a month of grinding, it was worth it. Time is money and all.
I’m not saying the maps are bad or anything, but it gets to a point where it can be brain melting, playing the same map for what feels like hundreds of times to level up.
the grind is shit and fucking dull
And whats is the point af add 26 level of equipment and belance them lv by lv if with 5 battle you already almost max the campaign and use only the endgear? Stalingrad xp booster is a mistake
( didn’t had premium since first days of OBT as “”“reward”"" for my CAT tag )
CAT
( ah yes. cat tag, meow )
no. cat stands for Closed Alpha Test.
usually it gets annoying when you start from level 20 to 30.
that’s where the real grind begins.
at least in my opinion.
It would make US more fun.
If you had everything unlocked, you probably wouldn’t be playing very much. There is currently no gameplay loop besides progression. The Stalingrad campaign flopped to my knowledge, people didn’t like it, myself included.
I think the tiered equipment system is the biggest issue. It pushes the game closer to P2W, and the grind becomes atrocious because only the final unlocks feel meaningful. If each weapon had a more individual feel, rather than just being straight upgrades, it wouldn’t feel like we were playing gimped for the majority of our time online.
Secondary issue, you waste progress by playing with maxed squads. Meaning most people don’t even get to play with their shiny unlocks very much.
I agree completely. Stalingrad was super enjoyable despite the lack of maps. The biggest treason being I could grind out BOTH factions in under two weeks ! The only campaign where I have completed both sides, I think if they release new levels with interesting unlocks for everyone to unlock a lot of haters will come around. Granted, I am fortunate enough to afford it, but the full access felt worth it for me
I disagree; there is plenty to keep someone occupied on campaigns that have already maxed out both sides.
Upgrading and equipping squads and vehicles lasts well past the point you hit max level, and just playing the game and enjoying it without having to worry about how much xp you’re getting is pretty fun too.
I’m really disappointed they are moving away from the Stalingrad style of one payment up-front, and back to microtransactions and slow grind for every element of the game. The xp bonus xp and cheaper upgrades were some of the best things about that campaign for me. Also the 10 squad slots, that alone made it worth the price.
“Well past the point you hit max level” - Maybe if you only play very little. When I say “maxed” I mean actually maxed, as in, what happens when you no longer have anything left to work on.
There might be plenty to keep yourself occupied, but most players would not play this game if they had real maxed accounts (not just levels).
Playing without worrying about XP is nice and all, but such a “counterstrike loop” of countless meaningless games is not enough to keep people hooked in a modern fps.
In some ways I agree with you since I’d prefer noobs to be less nerfed, but Stalingrad was not the solution. The 5% of people who bought it may love it, but it was a dead update for everybody else.
I played Stalingrad a lot even after hitting max level. I just find it fun to play in, so I play it. Same with Normandy. I’m max level there, but I still play Normandy a lot because it’s really fun, even though I’m not leveling anything up. There is no progression in Squad from what I know, yet loads of people are constantly playing that game.
Also, the leveling doesn’t have to be exactly as quick as Stalingrad, but at least a little faster than what we have now would be nice. Finally, I would rather a grind that is too speedy over a grind that is too slow.
Squad has progression! I’m not opposed to a faster leveling process, I just don’t like the idea of making it so fast everyone reaches max within a week or two, as I believe it would make the playerbase shrink. This wouldn’t be the case if there was an endgame gameplay loop.
I would like at least a x2 boost with the money I paid.
Stalingrad is the only campaign I’m max level because of the x4 and I still play it because of the setting.
THIS. Me too, It warms my heart seeing a good number of people like us who enjoy Stalingrad. I REALLY hope the next update (prob in a few months) will bring new maps to Stalingrad. Maybe atleast 1 unique weapon we haven’t seen yet as well? I may be asking for too much lol but fr I love Stalingrad
