Dagor engine

I think lot of bugs and mechanichal problems hail from dagor engine. Does df have full acces to dagor codes ?

Dagor is Gaijin’s proprietary engine. They literally own it.

A lot of problems probably arise from the fact that it’s an engine originally intended to play vehicles simulators, and later adapted to work for FPS as well.

But fear not. It’s full of bugs also in vehicles simulator games.

yeah adapting one engine meant for one type of games to another is just asking for bugs.

i would assume that df has full access to source, but it also depends how good that source is documented. sometimes you can spend 10 times more time reading undocumented or badly documented code vs properly documented code.

also they may need to send requests to gaijin to fix particular parts of engine cause they dont have expertise to do it themselves and gaijin probably has big queue of bugs with WT already.

Considering that the Dagor Engine was originally made for pure vehicular combat at the terrain scale of a flight simulator, it’s a miracle they even managed to incorporate infantry combat + terrain deformation + combined arms this well despite the bit of jank that came with it.
