Custom Tank Camos

My idea is simple: In the vehicle hanger page of the lobby, You can have an option to custom paint camos. This would be an enjoyable element to set your own tanks out from the crowd. Also, There would be other preset historical camos that can be bought for Enlisted Coins if you want a historically accurate tank. Naturally, the Custom camo editor would be FREE and NOT PAID. That is all

That’s an interesting idea Lego!

What would prevent people from drawing profanity or forbidden symbols on their tanks? Anyone who’s played Rust knows what I’m talking about.

Would a more structured pallette swapper be easier to control? You can swap between different semi-historical color schemes and patterns to apply.

Lastly, I’m not sure I’d restrict all historic skins to premium only. Maybe a mix of free and premium!

Nothing would stop profanity. Because It was in the real war.

The NUMEROUS examples of obscene noseart is proof of that.
Why take away player’s creativity in a game about the most savage and deadliest conflict in history? If they wanna paint penises and Swastikas all over their tanks, just let them meme. The game is already 18+, so why would you play a war game and be all sensitive about it?

Well, that a good way to bring bad name to the game and probable bans.
I’m against such thing if there is are no restrictions. If not for law aspects then my own immersion - I don’t want to see WW2 tanks coverd in todays memes, penises and things like that.
Custom camouflages - yes
Realistic decals - yes
Memes and profanity - no

yeah I’m not sure about the laws regarding certain symbols and online game. Judging by the German uniforms and lack of SS troops I’d be under the assumption Darkflow has choosen to disallow all forms of said iconography out of consideration for people of nations that have those laws.

SS was present during Berin test, but of course there were no symbols on the uniform because no soldiers have them anyway and the squad emblems were slightly censored (for example key on one of them was turned to the other side than it was on the original one).
And well, they have whole NKVD squads running around. So it not like that they censor everything.

They showed the full historical nazi flag in the trailer for berlin. Then i got the big ugly X banners instead of immersion. So yeh that made berlin less enjoyable because it wasnt fully historically accurate due to sensitive people.

I think this has to do more with the many laws in many countries banning the “glorification” or “depiction” of nazi imagery. There’s several subsections regarding that topic even in the forum rules! Hope this helps!

I agree that it was false marketing and shouldn’t be done again. But still, some countries have strict laws against such symbols (btw. some have strict regulations against lootboxes, but who cares in that situation…)
Anyway - I can understand that they don’t want to show swastikas, especially in the game where you can be lead german soldiers. Thats why I support the idea of silght censorship like it was with SS squads in Berlin. Noones feeling get hurt that way, no law is broken and everything looks better then it is now.

if they go full bore the game could potentially be banned in Germany

werent you saying something about YOUR immersion being broken by custom camo abuse? MY immersion is broken by Ahistorical flags

That is why you are free to present your ideas and I’m free to present mine. This is how it works.
I even somehow agree with you that lack of fully historical symbols can break immersion (I don’t like putting those ugly crosses everywhere too), but I understand why devs go that way.

If there isn’t a priority for e-sports, competition, I’m sure Darkflow could allow skins/ sound packs so that individual users could have whatever meme/nazi skin they wanted without getting other countries barred from the game.

. A) In accordance with the laws of Countries hosting Gaijin servers or offices, discussion of any logos, symbols, emblems, organisations or figures connected in any way with any groups that have been convicted of existing International laws and/or rules (including variations of Nazi symbolism, abbreviations and signs (SS and 1488), as well as credentials, names and surnames of Nazi leaders/War Criminals). B) Also, those which may promote national/ethnic/religious hatred.

judging by what is in the “rules” for the forum I’d say this a matter of the company’s policy regarding the host nation laws in which the operate in.

Only preset camos and decals.
Freedom in painting leads only to penis drawings.

Swastikas are banned in multiple countries. As such, they cannot even allow for the possibility of players of adding them onto their vehicles.

So your opinion about immersion is more important than this game being playable in 40% or so of EU countries and Russia? Free painting could lead to a ban like that.

Swastikas aren’t banned in Russia since 2019

i would really love to do that,

but i’m afriad it cannot be done. for few reasons.
the first one, being people will waste the ability to create custom vehicles with cursed Pe***s, Anime stuff, and/or adding swastikas like no tomorrow.

and the second reason, the only way to actually draw according to war thunder that has somewhat this system, it’s through decals. so you would need at least 20 spots in order to give a paint job, apply divisional and faction insignas along side numbers and icons.
not to mention, enlisted skins are based per file. you have to use softwares to edit the file and make all the drawings. i used photoshop to create a couple of custom skins over war thunder. but it’s complex because you don’t know exactly know the positions ( roof, hood, side plates ) as it’s an unique layer:
so people takes actually quite some times before figure that out.

as this is the initial template:

and here is custom made skin example:

so, we don’t have a proper system to fully customize vehicles like APB reloaded.

in conclusion, a shop or ability to unlock historical camo should be a thing insthead.
and much more " cheaper ".

maybe also create contests to give the ability for skin creators to create skins for those said vehicles and include them in the game.

Got banned -_-

giving freedom of creating camos to players is bad idea unfortunately. Or it should be moderated, but its not an option as well

On the other hand it could be something like “camo creation tool” where you pick basic color and then add camo layer with pattern-brush, with wich you will not be able to paint something prohibited. Like this one:

interestring idea and definitly a plus 1 from me.

it’s always nice to have the ability to create your own vehicles. and above all, have the ability to make your own vehicle somewhat unique. and not all vehicles with the same colors, camouflages and yada yada yada.

not to mention, even in real life they tried their own camo and of course, not all of them actually looked the same.

just a couple of examples;

american colors patterns

yep, a tool to create such camos with colors and pattern-brushes which only devs can add. But combining them you can create your unique camo

just to visualise my idea:
