Just as the 31st Infantry Regiment has a flag for all soldiers, an easy customization option could be added for the other squads.
To possibly leave uniqueness for the 31st, this option should be limited to one soldier per squad.

Maybe limit the flags to Arisaka rifles, only to one man like you said and add the Kanji writing to the flag to differentiate the rifles from the 31st, that way the 31st has flag on all of them and plain, while the ones on other squads have one with writing on them(which was actually fairly common anyway)
Already a thing for old event squad. This change would make them completely non-unique. Thus I don’t like this suggestion.

Yeah, I am okay with that. Or maybe give this customization option only to golden order soldiers.
