I primarily use the AVT-40 as a semi-auto rifle, and switching from the default auto can get really annoying sometimes. We should be able to choose the default firing mode of any select-fire rifle through some sort of options menu, so that we don’t have to switch to our preferred default firing mode whenever we spawn in.

Agreed. After all, the game remembers, for example, the formation of soldiers through matches. So why not remember fire modes?

All in all, setting the fire mode for each soldier’s weapon is a bit complicated.
Or rather, the question is.
Should the weapon setting be remembered from the map or should it be an option set in the stash?

Both are better than currently nothing , but a relatively easy way is everyone in that squad with same model (or same category) of weapon changes fire mode following the player controlled solider, and that fire mode is remembered to later games as default.
