First of all, I want to thank the devs for finally listening. You’re getting my thumbs up.
So what I want to suggest:
1. Things you would do easily (at least I think so): Return the number of bots to 20. Give them better weapons and bigger squads. It would also be good if they use grenades.
Things that will be more difficult to implement:
Teach them to use tanks and planes. Also it would be great that if they use mortar squads and artillery strike at least on random places.
Very difficult, but it would be great
So that they can build spawn points, MG nest, AT, AA, trenches, you know what I mean … I wouldn’t mind if they built it all the time in the same places
Minor changes you could make today:
If I choose Mixed option, then they should be really Mixed and not that whole team are for example USA soldiers only (even in opposite team)
EDIT: If players wants to use vehicle, bots vehicle will destroy immediately. I think if they could bomb with planes, it would be harder to exploit the game as the player would not be able to build sandbag fortress with MG nest.
I just want to say; if the AI are given the ability to use tanks and planes, I think it’d be better to have an option to toggle if they use them or not.
Im no bot-abbusing idiot,i just enjoy PVE after hard fights.And i want smarter AI and better (and realistic\historical accurate) equipment to all sides.
If anything I think AI engineers would be easier to implement than AI vehicles.
Or at least the glitches would be less catastrophic.
Throwback to the tank bots in War Thunder that refused to be stopped, and would catapult across the map if they ran into something unexpected.
At least they could use only roads. If they will be terrible, then will be no EXP rewar for destroying bot vehicle for example. But I think they could use them.
It doesn’t matter if they just go 50m and then stopped right away. If they will at least camp at the spawn point and shoot to other vehicles and infantry.
EDIT: I just want them there. Even if they were terrible, it’s the feeling that I can play with a tank and there’s some other enemy tank that shooting at me.
I dont care even if bot planes just make circles in the air and drop bombs. At least i can play with fighter and have that feeling that: YES i killed something in air
jokes aside, enlisted originally ( if you use way back machine to watch the elder site ), tanks were meant to be used by AIs and not players.
so i’m confident that the AI codes for the tanks are somewhere taking dust.
if not, war thunder still has them. it shouldn’t be hard to set the path of navemeshes, increase the chances of failure when shooting at stuff, and set a limiter to the ammo so it will not become a " sniper coax tank " and everythign should be good to go.
I’d love to see all of this come to the CM’s! I think it’d just make them feel even better to play and would attract more players to it. Like, if the AI could use planes, tanks, emplacements, and even more then that would be amazing imo. Even more amazing if the bot count could be raised back up to 20! It’d create some really authentic feeling battles so I’m all for that. Heck, if a $5 game can implement these types of things, I’m more than sure that DF can do it here.
More so bc as was mentioned before, the AI was already planned to use tanks way back in the day. So if that code is still lying around, I would imagine that it wouldn’t be that difficult to implement it. Or perhaps even branch it out to AI planes as well even then they could probably source some of that code from WT anyways. Either way, I think all this is definitely possible! Even if it may be a bit difficult it’d be worth it.
