Cross-Platform Play

What is the actual point of cross-platform play? Seriously you can’t even make a squad with people from other consoles so there is no point. All it does is let PC people shit stomp consoles players with no benefit to them (I say this as a PC player). I have a friend on PS5 who id would like to make a squad with but am totally unable to do so due to cross-platform being this way. We have to awkwardly try to join a match at the same time and we almost never get into a map together after several times of trying. Please add the ability to make cross-platform squads or simply remove the feature.

If I remember correctly, this could be done in the CBT, but this function was later deactivated at the request of the community.

Cross platform play can be activated/deactivated… ONLY by console players. Sadly pc players cannot opt to “tick” the function off and prevent console players from joining matchs they are in.

It is true. (For pc players). The main reason behind this is console players have a aim assist crutch resembling aim bot, pc players disliked that (and we still do)
On the other side of the fence, console players thought pc players had an unfair advantage because they can manually aim with a mouse, thus achieving better precision (when they are good)

As a pc player, you can STILL meet console players however, there’s a controller icon beside their name when you press tab to see the player list. Thankfully it has become rarer.

Crossplay would be nice IF all aim bot assist would be deactivated for everyone. The choice of a controller or mouse remains in the hands of the player (BADUM TSSS) but people shouldn’t have to endure others with aim assist if they don’t want to.

I have no problem with cross-platform play I just want cross platforms squads. I think aim assist is a fair way to kind of bridge the gap between PC and console and while it does lead to some awkward occurrences id rather that than just not being able to play with friends on other consoles.

Aim assist effectiveness is mostly a legend. I don’t believe anybody who played on both platforms would deny the game is incomparably easier on PC. Yes, mostly because of mouse aiming but also because of ability to assign and use much more keyboard commands.

Mandatory crossplay when it was briefly introduced during Normandy CBT basically ruined it for console players, caused huge outcry and was made optional before open beta started.

There never was similar problem for PC players. Regardless, nobody should be forced to play in uneven environment and I am shocked crossplay is still not optional on PC.

However crossplay, while working quite well between consoles still has only very rudimentary, physical support. So you can technically play with a friend from other platform, but there is no mean to invite him to the game, communicate using in game engine, etc.

Not really. If it was very slight, no one would mind. But nobody likes cod no scope snap shooting guys like seen here: (console user using aim assist, notice he NEVER AIMS, but look in a general direction, then snap click aim+shoot in a split second for guaranteed kill)

This is my point.

I do however understand the appeal of playing with friends using different hardware, as such I’d suggest this:

Say you, a pc user, wish to play with 1 (or 2) friends on console.
-if YOU create a squad with them, then they will join a PC server, among pc players, where their aim assist should be DEACTIVATED.
-if one of them create the squad, then the match will be played among other console players, in a server made FOR console players, with aim assist maintained, ONLY for them (you wouldn’t have it).
Pretty much a “my house, my rules” point.

This would be a scenario where nobody unwilling to endure the advantages/disadvantages of others playing on other platforms would be forced. As such I believe everyone would be satisfied.

I believe you propose measures against something you did not experience yourself. It is like forcing PC players to aim with arrows or use gamepad. BTW I do not use aim assist, it is more harmful than helpful, but it is not the point.

Crossplay should be optional for every platform. If you agree to play in asymmetrical environment, it is your choice. I never play with PC players and I believe a small minority of console players do. It just feels very obviously and immediately unfair.

Also, as I wrote, the game does not provide you with means of crossplatform communication with your friends. So right now it is only platform choice. I am on XBox and of course I enabled cross platform game with PS. It brings more people to battle but does not allow me to actually play with my PS friends.

It’s something I never do. I speak of experience, or I don’t at all.

I’m attempting to find a solution for both parties here: those who wish to play with friends from different platforms, those who don’t and don’t want to endure either side’s inequality.

… it’s basically what I wrote… Are we saying the same thing? The problem is that while crossplay can be toggled on/off when playing console, PC PLAYERS DO NOT HAVE THE SAME OPTION. We cannot decide if we want to opt out and only play with pc users only, we have to endure console players, and often they (console players playing with pc users) do very bizzare moves such as seen on the video from my prior post.
Since we pc users play with console users by default, you can understand that yes, I do experience it myself, unlike you:

My suggestion aim at correcting that, both side would have something out of it. It’s also EXACTLY as you said (and I said in my suggestion):

It amount to the same thing…

that could be a solution. For the PC players who don’t want to play with/against console players can disable it and for those who want to play with consoles can enable it

Yes, as simple as that.

If a pc player wants to play with a friend using a console, he just flips the switch “on”, and knowing it’s his choice, would have no right to complain about aim assist.

truth only in one sense tho is the vehicles on console is terrible lol but reg gun play is fine

In fact, in my opinion, tank or bike controls are very natural, better than on PC. Aiming with mice is just much quicker. However it does not matter if you play against people with same control scheme.
