greetings. today i come with a rather “simple” suggestion.
which aims to tackle few issues:
- create an in depth colorable versions of existing tunics to then be able to recreate historical equipment pieces ( mostly collars and ranks )
- make modelers / 3d texturer’s job easier
- provide more pieces to be introduced eventually into the customization
but, as what i just typed, sounds gibberish to most people, allow me to explain in simple words and with pictures.
Main Suggestion
as titled, recreate the following tunics:
-
M35 Jacket
attachable_wear_jacket_m35_ussr_01_olive_winter_item
-
Enlisted & Officer M35 Tunics
attachable_wear_tunic_01_ussr_summer_item
- attachable_wear_tunic_01_white_ussr_summer_item
- M43 Tunic
attachable_wear_tunic_brown_08_ussr_summer_item
with the features of Camouflage_override.
For those who don’t knows ( as aren’t inherently constantly up to date or behind the scenes like yours truly or fellow modders, and either don’t really touches the editor for bits of informations and what not ), the camouflage_override was a new introduced " feature " which essentially, takes black and white texures, separate them onto coordinates and allows that feature to create layers of masks onto said coordinates and change colors.
to put it bluntly, Left piece are older models, right models are the new models with the " camouflage override " function / feature.
which allows have more layers to change colors and give more accurate colors.
but olders, are still using the " texture fuction ".
the camouflage override pieces were recently introduced and used for: most partisans, feldgendarmerie, chinese clothings, and much more to allow to create different colorations.
aka, create more equipment pieces WITHOUT having to create more textures. as you can create TEMPLATES ( which are just lines of code ).
on the contrary to what has been done since now.
aka, create 10 textures just for a single model to create differences.
and as examples;
i was able to turn the first tunic, onto another.
transforming the german feldgendarmerie tunic onto a panzergrenadier.
the same devs did for the medic squads:
they remade a medic item, remastered it, and create a color version, to which, i can for example, transform it onto the previous one ( gray ) WITHOUT having to create a new texture from 0!. pretty cool
hence, this is what pretty much i would like, and think would be beneficial for enlisted.
think about it.
a win win situation.
- more pieces are being made
- easier for developers to create more pieces
- saves time & space
as they say, work smart, not hard.
hence, i figured the " maps " / " layers " should be:
to ensure that can be colored accordingly.
and best part, that can be edited or adjusted at all time without having to recreate the texture or modify it each time taking needles space or losing time.
and that is all from me.
take care.
