Cover me! Suppressing fire!

Seeing how the bots duck from bullets now, a squad order to suppress a area of a meter or two would be great and immersive. This would help with the big 'lone wolf’s syndrome of leaving your dumbass machinegun and tank magnet bots from finding and running into death like a moth to flame. By this I mean people may decide to keep their squad nearby and better positioned to help you when underfire better and also increase immersion. As it is now most everyone sees the AI as just being useless in most cases aside from needing a specific class for a task such as a AT gunner, engineer, assault weapon and whatnot, capturing objectives quicker, posed to switch to when you die, or extra ammo to pick up from them when they decide the best course of action when the player moves more than a few meters away is run face first into a Tiger 2 and single handedly drain all the remaining tickets thus losing the game by being cannon fodder. With what being said, the bots when locked into a cover now will try to duck from heavy fire and a suppression system to get your bots to lay down fire on a area would give the squad system a actual use other than only getting in the way or being free kills for players. Also the addition of a radio quick message ‘Cover me!’ to point out to players know that you are about to rush or are taking fire from somewhere would be great. It often will draw attention to the map by players who hear it in War Thunder, causing otherwise oblivious players attention to help each other or spot a ambush. I believe it would help in Enlisted too and be a nice addition to add a little bit more of teamwork.

At this point I believe the devs Hate the concept of kill zones and teamwork that’s why they removed the yes and no from the quick wheel without saying anything about it.

The good news is that we got new premium aircraft for Pacific from the event, so there’s really no need to be able to say “yes” or “no” when a teammate is requesting help with something. Who cares about communication, when we get an endless stream of premium content/events to play. It would take waaaaaay too much time re-adding basic commands to the communication wheel, especially when there’s more premium content being developed. Gotta make that $$$$ from the whales!

Also better animations and behavior for the AI. The AI moves very stiff and robotic and not at all like a real human would, doesn´t help that they don´t have animations to enter cover and don´t act smart at all. Imagine your engineer was getting shot at and instead of just ducking and returning fire, he would run behind the house he´s standing next to and lean against the wall then return fire that way.

Or even better if you could customize your sqaud AI what their response to danger should be, very useful classes like engineers or AT gunners would try to stay away from danger from afar while Riflemen, snipers and Machine gunners would engage always engage enemies at long range.

There´s so much potential in having an AI squad with you that the game barely even uses. Even though nobody like the last 2 Operation Flashpoint games atleast those games had a deeper squad system than “go over there”.

Flashpoint was the shit.
“Target, Rifleman, 300m Northwest”

“Move Grid, 17193726”

“Moving”

“Machinegunner, Engage Rifleman”

“AFFIRMATIVE!”

“FIRE SUPPORT, 60MM MORTAR, TIGHT GROUP, HIGH EXPLOSIVE FRAG, INFANTRY, FIRE FOR EFFECT!”

Thanks for writing exactly what I was thinking in the shower this morning. There’s so much POTENTIAL and it sucks just having to rely on a drip feed from the devs.

I wonder if they even play the game

AI is why I’m here.

yeah…

At least we got a bunch of experimental SMGs and ARs, yey…

I’ve been growing some frustration about how slow the bot’s reaction has become, I can walk between 4 of them meleeing them all or a single guy can pick my bots one by one with a bolt action from open field 20 meters away.

I thought thats why ALL of us were here but people actually played Lone Fighters :face_exhaling::exploding_head:

I want multiplayer Brothers in Arms

Operation flashpoint allowed the AI to wait at a specific location or issue a fire order. That game is 20 years old now. I miss that.
I am waiting for the AI in this game to make more tactical moves like OFP and Brother in Arms.

The vision of the game has been obscured by the years of adding “content” instead of focusing on making the basic mechanics of the game.

When I play this game, I am the squad LEADER. I should be able to command my troops in a way that takes advantage of how I built my squad ie. I picked a Machinegunner to lay down cover fire while my troopers attack the objective. Right now I have to be squad leader AND every man in my squad at the same time
