Playing as US in normandy I think strange that nobody complain about how good is lvl1 P38-lighting.
You can kill literaly everything with it from panther to bf110.
It can stay in WEP for hours without suffering any issue, got two engines, can kill any plane with ease (you face bf110 95% of the time). Can kill any tank with a direct rocket impact. Can gain speed very easely.
I though IL-2 was the best plane of the game for its versatility, but I have changed my mind.
The thunderbolt is more heavy, but got more loads. I unlocked it one day ago so I still have to try it more to be sure, but it exchange a lot of mobility for a more fire power bomb and extra rockets. It can also burn if you use too much WEP. And is less capable in dogfight. Horizontal turn is a big nono since it bleed energy.
It’s the best plane if you are alone in the air.
It’s not worth it in every situation.
A good pilot can make the game difference, especially against German in Normandy where the map is widely open and ennemy tanks like to greyzone camping.
You can still do amazing thing with German planes.
Two best thing are:
8x 250kg carpet bomb for exemple.
Hunting down everything with BF109 g-10.
But not lvl1 like the jake of all trade P-38.
Anyway there is no good pilot lvl1… that why early unlockable OP tanks are more cheated than early unloclable OP planes.
Even as a like level 4 or 5 the p38 was easy, i could sweep objectives for like 10 kills at a time, the 110 couldn’t come anywhere near that with its “better” rockets, and the 12.7s is i think the only semi decent anti aircraft weapon in the game at the moment
Yeah they both only have extremely powerful loads that will rape infantry and the 110 having explosive guns that function as anti infantry and anti air
With a good payload, and map knowledge it is entirely possible yes it is possible with any aircraft. But hey what do I know, I only use the bf110g-2 if I get into a vehicle for Normandy
