I noticed recent threads about the P 47 and Jagdpanzer and wanted to point out that you can only use them of you have a proper crew unlocked with it in the campaigns.
I reached out to CMs for the future to clarify that in new Events. Cheers!
Addition: You earn the Vehicle WITHOUT an assigned Squad.
You might wanna specify the crews you need to unlock to actually use those vehicles, we both know people are gonna ask what campaign level and crew they need anyway.
For the P-47 it’s the A-20 crew at campaign level 18, no idea what the Jagdpanzer is.
Once upper level players unlock the Event P 47 (which is fully upgraded) they might wish that it had been placed in the same squadron as the Level 27 P 47, so that they didn’t have to choose between the A-20 & the Event plane.
From my experience, the skies above Normandy have been pretty clear of planes lately. I can envision some high level premium players, with 3 vehicle slots, kamikaze attacking the point and just rotating both P 47s and either the A-20 or a P-38.
Meaning a combination of 3 planes with strong ground attack capabilities, A20-P47-P38….P47,P47, P38.
I have a feeling, that I’ll test this weekend, that it would be possible, at least currently, to last an entire match as an Allied Pilot in Normandy without much problem finding a plane slot to re-spawn into.
Yeah, that’s probably gonna be an issue. If you run the P38j, you’ve got a fighter in the mix, making it more likely to find a slot. Dunno that I’d run the Razorback over the A20 though, can’t imagine 1 bomb and six rockets being more effective than 4 bombs, but YMMV.
I get that, my point is that, at least in the games that I’ve been in lately, the skies have been pretty clear of any Allied planes. It wasn’t that way a couple of weeks ago
Not sure it’s actually a bug, at this point. First plane the Germans get is the BF110, which is an attacker. I’d bet the P38G is classed that way on purpose, or they’d have fixed it by now.
No seems neglected 100% has a fighter pilot. They would have swapped that if intended. The J version which is nearly the same plane is a fighter in the fighter slot
I can see why people think that, and I held the same opinion for a while. But,
P38g unlocks same level as BF110, both classed as attackers in game, which is confusing
P38j unlocks at 24, same level as BF109g10, both classed as fighters.
If the slot they use is tied to the campaign level, and this is a bug and not intended mechanics, they might have trouble fixing it without making the BF110 a fighter, or they may have decided that because all allied fighters have ordnance for CAS, having the P38g as an attacker somehow balances the scale. Either way, if they haven’t fixed it by now, I’d say it’s either because it’s working as intended or it’s seriously low priority, however they decide that. I’d love if one of the devs chimed in with a clarification though.
Going that way, they also must have decided to allow 2 CAS at the same time in Moscow Axis side, because you can use at the same time Bf-110 (actual attacker but takes slot of fighter) and any Ju-87, and if this Bf-110 is flying then no other fighter can be taken.
Also you unlock FW-190 at the same level as P-47 and they have proper class in battle (one is fighter other attacker).
These two cases must be bug that they refuse to fix.
Some will LOVE the event plane. I scored 18 kills on my 1st pass…with 2 rockets. Saving half, or more, of your payload for a 2nd pass over the objective while returning to re-arm can be deadly, since you should have a better idea of where the enemy is concentrated.
