I’ve noticed that changes regarding merges, immersion, and balance seem to be tearing the community apart, which makes me think about why we have to change so many things in one “ultimate update”, especially since the devs seems can’t makes the answer that make everyone satisfies.
Implement the parts that everyone agrees on as quick as possible
Why can’t we start with something that everyone agrees on? Like a unified Tech tree so we don’t have to grind four MP40s or other duplicates, and a new currency and economy system, which I’m not looking at There are a lot of complaints about this thing, as well as graphics and AI improvements. These non-controversial things should be implemented as soon as possible to give players something new to experience and buy devs time to prepare the next update.
How campaign adapts to new armory system
In my opinion, “keep the campign” and “armory merging” are not contradictory, and it’s possible to enjoy the advantages of both at the same time.
My idea is as follows:
Let players share the same equipment inventory and tech tree in all campaigns, but the number of weapons and equipment will not affect each other. For example, if I equipped 10 98k in Moscow, I can still distribute these 10 98k again in Normandy, and the same goes for soldier distribution. Similarly, this allows players to switch between all campaigns without any burden, and we can even allows players to select several campaigns they want for matching at the same time. It should be noted that you can still only equip weapons or vehicles that are allowed to appear in that campaign. For example in Moscow, the Assault Trooper cannot equip the MP3008, but can access the MkB (if you have one).
Still have a mix of players of different levels in the same match, so we can still have cannon fodder, normal troops, and elite troops in the same battle. For example,4 low-level + 3 mid-level + 3 high-level players (the ratio is not fixed, as long as both teams maintain The composition is similar). And if vehicle respawn costs are added in the future (just like mech events) gambling between light tanks vs. heavy tanks will becomes more meaningful
Why delete the campaign won't help anything
It’s because I think the devs have not prepared a complete alternative in my opinion. Deleting the campaign will be a devastating blow to the immersion, and the balance has nothing to do with it! As currently the unbalanced combat in the game is mostly caused by the playerbase rather than the equipment. Taking Tunisia as an example, the Flame Para equipment itself was not strong enough to counter the previous bot farm environment. Instead, it makes a motivation for the entire community to play axis, and in this way reversed the situation.
The solution to balance should be the improvement of the match making system, which matches players with opponents with matching skills(or at least quantity), so that players can still play immersive battles with good balance.
Some may think that by merging player groups through delete the campaign, a balance is more likely to be achieved with a larger player base. However, due to the BR system, a country will still be divided into several stages. And with the independence of Italy, Britain or other country, this will not be too different from the current number of faction divisions, plus some people claim that “historical Immersion lovers should stay in custom mode”, will only make the problem worse.
