Community thought on the Medkit

Today was my first day and i’m enjoying the game a lot, there are so few things that are off putting.

One of them to me is the medkit, the concept of it feels wrong in such a game.
Other should be able to revive your soldier if the hit wasn’t critical, but the usage of the medkit feel wrong.

I’m new, so i was wondering what the community thinks about it.

You mean that option to self “revive” seems wrong to you?

Yes.
I would prefer if teammate revived you, if you weren’t shot in the chest or head of course, then it’s insta death.

As of now you can get revived much quicker if you swap to a teammate and heal your downed self that way

2 seconds to revive a buddy
8 seconds to revive self

Personally im ok with it because 8 seconds is kind of an eternity in fps games and it isnt hard to finish off someone you downed most of the time

I have heard of a perk that makes self revivies far to fast but havent encountered it often

I think you can command your squad to revive you through the command menu but I don’t do that because that will just get them killed.

Most of the time if I get hit and go down the guy that shot me is just itching for an AI teammate to show himself so he can punch his ticket as well…

I usually just Y out to a new squad member and keep going …

I think it’s fine as it is, and I usually finish enemies off before they can even get back up.

There’s only 10 people per side - often less - having another player stop fighting to fix you up is never going to work.

the medkit if fine IMO

Like in BFV when ten medics run by you while bleeding out, cause they only play medics for the SMGs, and faster sprinting.

I only have problems with perks 200% restored hp per medkit and 75% faster medkit usage.
Medkits themselves are fine as they are giving you only small portion of hp to barely keep you going.
Also, logicaly it is impossible to rely on teammates to revive you and having medic class is impossible to implement as well without entering “screw realism, embrace fantasy land” territory (under Geneva convention medics are forbidden to carry weapons, participate in combat or being shot at… I can´t imagine how anyone would want to play such class).

I’d like it if some things bypassed the medkit. For instance headshots and explosives. A bit hard to patch up a hole when your brain is in the ground or when the hole happens to be your legs.

I was under the impression that headshots or direct HE hits were instant kills. Certainly I can’t recall surviving either.

They could be but I know I’ve been downed from Arty, tank rounds and not insta killed. I know whenever I’ve had a medkit unless it was an MG that hit me enough to kill in under 2 seconds I’ve always gone down and never been insta killed.

well yeah - if you got to use a med kit you didn’t get insta killed- kind of follows!!

If you get hit direct by tank guns you normally get insta-killed - you are talking about splash damage from near misses from them and artillery.

head shots are invariably instakills - even at long range with rifles.

I can see that now, after playing all day.

Coming from games like squad and arma, i thought this will be a similar experience to them with communication and all, but now i see it’s more like BFV, especially because of the perks and space jumping.

It’s still a very nice game though.

I’m saying I’ve never been insta killed with a medkit equipped. Could just be I’ve never been headshot or direct hit by a tank with one equipped but I could be wrong.

All my soldiers have medkits and I get insta-killed all the time …

Two different experiences clearly.

Indeed. I have been killed outright many times, and have also done the same to the enemy.
