Community PSA: There is No Match Timer

I posted this as a reply to another topic, but figured I’d make my own for visibility:

THERE IS NO MATCH TIMER. Games end once tickets reach 0 for one side. Therefore, there is no need to zerg-rush at the start of a game and allow yourself to be farm-killed.

I see an overwhelming “hurry” mentality in most games when your team is usually rewarded for playing smart and slow. Defense of captured points is probably MORE important in Conquest, and rushing to certain doom in Invasion just loses the game.

The only way to win on invasion is to attack.

If you plan to move slow as a snail I can guarantee you that you won’t get within 10 lightyears of the zone seeing as the enemy will have plenty of time to dig in to a point it’ll be that much harder for you to get them out.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve had a lot more success as attacker when I take my time to set up an acutal FOB with rally points and small defenses than if I zerg rush sprinting in the open straight toward the cap.

The problem isn’t taking time.
The problem I see is running in a straight line over and over again on a open field.

It depends really. Picking off people on the point can be viable if they are too proactive in their defenses. Other times you set up a beacon only for that beacon to obsolete before you even finish building it.

I guess it depends on whether it’s easier to defend an objective once you siege it. It really depends how cover based the objective itself is and how hard sieging and retaking it is. If it’s a building that offers plenty of cover and easy peaks, then suicidally rushing it and then playing defense might be better than trying to whittle the enemy team down.

The defense is usually pretty disorganized right at the beginning and a quick rush can do disproportionate damage if you are lucky - so it is a legitimate tactic.

After 5 minutes you are usually rushing to minimize exposure in open fields so nothing wrong with that either.

Taking your time is also a legitimate approach but has to be done when the circumstances allow it too.

It actually works like real War, the fastest Army is able to capture and hold a point. If you take too much time to erase em out of a position they dug in deep and eventually you have to face MG 42 and Flaks or Paks or even Tanks

I’ve had games of invasion where the Soviets have the first objective, just as I spawn in.
