All focus and funding is spent on War Thunder and Active Matter all other games will get downsized in scale and get minimal content to keep whales happy with their premium preorders.
In future we will only be getting most laziest and low effort events possible and they will try to monetize them again i can guarantee it.
The trailer for the infantry in WT was fire lowkey but i have A feeling that gaijin will merge War Thunder and Enlisted together which will be interesting and concerning at the same time…but ehhhhh who knows
no way… you would need 100v100 battles at minimum to justify current WT vehicle numbers. not to mention maps designed for infantry alongside cover for it. not to mention loads of modern infantry weapons.
I have seen games with loads of players and massive battles - this is entirely an optimization question, or a minimalisation question… well I dont know if one could make AI simpler to allow for more AI squads at once…
certainly unrealistic for next 5-10 years. WT has too many vehicle players per battle for infantry to be viable unless in very large battles. could be possible if they heavily limit vehicles, but then you just get enlisted…
yes optimization question. just to give you scale of the problem, had grok estimate me bandwidth for 100v100 battle with squads of 7 bots on average. with all optimizations it requires ~50Mbps in best case scenario(30 tick rate, bot actions update less often, only updates on 20-50 nearby players/bots) and in worst case it can go up to 1.8Gbps if it needs to update all players/bots with real time position. client would need ~10Mbps connection at minimum for worst case scenarios.
then it comes CPU question for both server and client. for server it can be anywhere between 4-12 cores and it would not be accessible to low end CPU/GPU for client side if there were large scale battles.
cost per server can range anywhere from 1-2k$ to 35k$ monthly depending on level of optimization. majority of cost is actually bandwidth and bots make large part of that. just for enlisted playerbase at peak you would need ~60 such servers, so it becomes very expensive to run them.
most games that have bigger battles use cleverly designed maps so they dont need to send positions of all players+they dont use squads with bots.
There’s many events ideas devs could use to implement new stuff, such as the one mentioned up (that has nothing to do with a developer/publisher thing unlike what some twat thought).
I’m still eagerly waiting for that plane. CAF day would have been perfect. Or maybe they wait for another special day… As long as it comes with a Commonwealth (Either Canadian or British) squad I’ll be happy.
