Berlin is a headache to drive any type of tank, you hit anything tank stops, you try to shoot? oh the gun is being blocked by something remove some of the debris or make it crushable.
just make those debris destroyable/moveable. Its f tank it should f manage against f tram car.
Berlin isn’t a tank campaign, as with every single other shooter that features vehicles urban combat is extremely difficult for them, the rubble shouldn’t be crushed because then the infantry would not have enough covers, removing it also is basically the same. I really suggest you play with infantry or avoid berlin (Its also the same with planes since most bombs either get stuck in buildings or most of the enemy is inside cover and cant be reached.
What i would suggest is making SOME of the debris destroyable, enough so that tanks can atleast manage to move without getting stuck
you could argue that for any campaign. there are lots of clutter and debris on most maps or some other obstacles. not to mention gray zone that is preventing flanking of enemy tanks.
Yes, especially since tanks can get stuck on so many things or they they get the shakes, when they stand on slightly uneven ground.
They should give the tanks the upgrade system from WT (but with some changes), so then some tanks can get dozer blades.
I agree 100%. Personally I use tanks to push up and help infantry break through. It usually actually works pretty well. There are a few spots however with awkward vehicles and such that just don’t break. The ONLY thing that should be reacting in that way is dead tanks.
As I know this is going to rekindle the whole “make tank remnants destroyable” argument, let me say this:
The tank remnants should NOT be removable. HOWEVER, you should be able to move smaller tank remnants by pushing with a larger tank. In the instance of large tank remains, there should be a tow unit available to players as a vehicle that can be used to pull them.
With a dozer blade, you should be able to push: dead tank turrets, some anti-tank fortifications, larger vehicles ect ect.
With a dozer blade equipped I could agree to that. IF there was a cost to equipping it. Like removing a bunch of ammo, or the functionality of MGs or something.
Berlin is a great Tank campaign.
Probably like %25 less ammo for all weapons of the tank, and the speed would be reduced significantly with the dozer blade deployed, and the with the dozer blade raised just a little slower than its regular variant.
Except destroyed tanks create new cover.
So it kind of evens out unless some tanker’s only goal is to destroy as much cover as possible.
Do keep in mind that the way the dozer blade would sit, lower mounted machineguns would not be able to fire.
it never fires (except japanese), so not really a loss.
Actually there are a fair number of American and German tanks that have lower mounted machineguns. I’ll get a list when I hop on tonight.
I would like not getting stuck on a branch in a 40 ton tank.
