In order to improve the micromanagement of soldiers, I thought about revamping the inventory management so that you can save a default loadout preset for each soldiers class.
The idea is to make equipment management as smooth as possible when switching soldiers in and out of squads, since we need a constant turnover in order to level them up efficiently.
Despite the current option to switch equipment between two soldiers of the same class, the multitude of classes and the incompatibility among different tiers of the same class often makes equipping soldiers a PITA.
So here’s the suggestion: let us be able to save a default equipment loadout for each class.
When moving a soldier out of a squad into the reserve (or to the academy), his inventory would automatically be emptied, in order to keep all the available items free to use for active squads.
But at the same time, whenever putting a soldier into a squad, he would be AUTOMATICALLY equipped with the saved preset for his class, and then you would be able to make individual changes at will.
The automatic equipment logic should be:
-
In the class equipment selection menu, you choose which weapons and items are assigned to a specific class, regardless of how many you actually own (as long as you own at least one), and without specifying the weapon upgrade level. Restrictions on currently available slots still apply.
-
When you put a soldier in a squad, the game automatically picks the required weapons and items from your general inventory. If the weapon is available in different upgrade levels, the ones with more stars are picked first.
-
If not enough weapons/items are available, you are warned by a pop-up window and asked if you want to either leave empty slots, fill empty slots automatically with other items, or go to logistics (to buy more items).
At that point, the remaining hassle could be the management of Battle Pass and other unique weapons, but still better than managing every single soldier’s inventory one by one.
The current inventory switching option between same class could stay because why not.
