Changed aircraft markings?

So I was looking at the IAR-81C in the Stalingrad campaign and noticed that it’s Romanian markings were removed. And apparently, other aircraft had their markings removed and replaced with squares. The BF-109E-7, JU-87, even the Japanese planes had their markings changed. But what was wrong with the German cross and Romanian markings? This leaves me scratching my head as those markings to my knowledge are not restricted in anyway. Not even War Thunder has these markings changed.

Is there a news article I missed that could provide an explanation? I’m not asking for anything to be changed or anything, I just want to know why this particular change was made, and it’s reason for it.

I suppose it got turned on automatically in the last update because I don’t remember even seeing that option.
