Change the name of the MKB.42 (M)

Well @MajorMcDonalds hope you guys take notice of this so lets start the topic

First why?

Simple the name is misleading and is wrong so you might ask what the real name well it is complicated let me explain a bit about Mauser pre-war machine carbine and why it was made

So explanation

During 1930 WaA(Waffenamt) asked for investigation on small arms future on July 24th a report came back which essentially explained that 50/60% of major fights would be at around less than 400 meters and that 30/40% would be around 400 to 800 meters and less than 10 % would be at more than 800 meters
image
image
Though the report doesn’t mention which caliber these automatic carbines should fire , IWG report back in 1924 mentions that 8mm Mauser is too powerful to be able to be controlled when shoulder firing

image

What this leads us to?

Well it leads us a fey years future where German industries have developed few intermediate cartilages and WaA has a program for automatic carbine going on with Mauser , walther and Volmer competing in it (More like Vollmer peresnted weapon to WaA and they decided to test it and other companies find out about it and they present their weapons, too)
image

what now ?

image

We know about these prewar weapon and that DWM short ammo is pre-war ammo what does that say ?
Only logical conclusion would be that MKB 42(M) with DWM ammo is prewar prototype
image
image
Any person with logical thinking would connect dots, Mauser failure with G35 rifle (Already suggested in one of my axis weapon suggestion) and DWM failure , and since they both helped each other develop the round that rifle from Mauser would be chambered for this round and presented for WaPrw2 pre-war for testing

And?

And we reach the name phase initially I asked for changing the name of the gun for MKB 42(M) early or
MKB 42(M)(DWM) why? Well because Mauser as soon as it noticed that during 1941/1942
another machine carbine trial was going on decided to enter the trial but since 1942 trials were all done with Polte round(8mm Kurz) it changed the ammunition and entered that competition
image

And later variant of MKB 42(M) had some minor diffireneces
image
And some minor changes like Bolt and nozzle cone(A gas port was drilled in nuzzle cone as per suggestion of Branch 44)(Which our in game model doesn’t have making the gun in game pre war model)

And odd find

During my research I also came across the name Mauser MKb 39 (Robert first mentioned it in Forum) which IMFDB mentions which might be right but I couldn’t more information

Conclusion

As per evidence above I suggest that name of the MKB 42(M) be changed to MKB 42(M) early or MKB 42(M)(DWM) or Mauser MKB 39

Thank you for reading the topic

German classification has pretty much never used “-” that’s a US air force and Russian thing. Meaning it should be a space there instead of a “.”.

Hmm I see I will edit it

It’s like the baby yoda nerding, we use “wrong” specifications for simplicity.
Letters behind equipment was actually used to indicate foreign origin.
Wheraboos refer to Tiger II models as VK45.02 which is in game as Tiger II (P) and VK45.03 which is in game as Tiger II (H), the Porsche and Henschel turrets don’t exist, both turrets were actually designed by Krupp, for simplicity you can refer to these as pre-production and production turrets.
Now this is very nice a formal document but not convenient for a fast paced game, it’s a necessary bad to have some deviation in designations, but I don’t see why Mkb42(M) shouldn’t have it’s name corrected since Mkb42(M) early is more convenient to use especially if the other model is added at later date.

I didnt understand anything from this part

Its just adding an early at the end of the name . I bet devs can do that in five min

Why did you respond to me with that comment? Nothing you said addressed anything I said…
Honestly, what are you on about…?

I’m just saying that in game weapon and vehicle names should be convenient to use first and foremost.
Most people have absolutely no idea what VK45.02 means so they are happy with (P) even though it’s historically not accurate at all.

All I said was that that Germans don’t tend to use hyphens in their weapon’s designations…

Thank you for suggestion, forwarded.

meanwhile japanese “mp28 (7.65mm)” still being called this way in spite of several suggestions made over 2 years:

(if this gun will be renamed but not the “mp28” i will be completely convinced that devs care more about german mains than anybody else)

Suggestion has been forwarded topic is now closed
