Making this suggestion to commemorate getting unique and generous event reward of whole 5 katanas.
Running around with both hands above the head often blocks the view.
Euro sabers are much better in this regard with their one-handed charge animation.
It would be cool if with the free hand they could hold a pistol or grenade. The controls would be a nightmare to figure out though.
katana is not one hand but more a hand and a half that is can be 1 handed but is most effective with two, also is slashing weapon so one hand thrusts would almost be as week as one handed slashes
I only practiced using knives, not swords or sabers, however it seems obvious to me that an edged weapon that relies on powerful slashes is unideal for one handed use.

Get a cheap pressed metal replica katana and hold it one hand and then two, and tell me which you prefer.
In my handling of cheap pressed metal replica katana; I find that the balance is such that it doesn’t feel right holding it in one hand. Much less so trying to actually swing with the thing.
