The first and main reason why I’m suggesting this is purely selfish, because I want to put it as a fighter in my lineup together with the Ju-188 as an attacker.
This said, here’s the ritual list of random reasons to pretend that it would be good for everyone:
Despite its current classification in game, the plane is a fighter.
If classified as a fighter, it would be a tradeoff compared with the Bf109K, which doesn’t carry bombs but is more agile in air combat.
The change would on paper leave Germany without a BR V attacker, but everyone knows that the BR IV Ju-188 is still the best German attacker even at BR V.
The premium FW190D9 is classified as a fighter and it carries 8x 50 kg bombs. Its carpet bombing abilities are more or less the same.
Would Ju-188 and FW190D12 in the air at once be too much? Not much different than P-47 together with Corsair, Mustang or Tempest.
Technically its capable to take out 2 tanks on 1 run, since u can drop the 50kg’s & 250kg ? separately.
And the 30mm against inf / planes. While not exactly comparable to Hvars / sovjet rockets what comes to deleting inf id say its still better than bombs on that task.
But IDK, D12 is quite bad fighter, in that sense there would be tradeoff and better cas ability.
Keep my lovey Dora 12 an attacker. I have two actually. Tech tree and GO are in my lineup now along with the D-9 and its massive fun. God i love those 30s.
D9 is excellent, it can turn with any allied top tier fighter except for the Tempest. The bomb load rivals any bomber, I’ve gotten over 17 kills on one bomb run lol. No tank or plane is safe with that thing in the sky.
