Chaffee worth?

So, quick and straight foward question.

Is the m24 chaffee worth -(normandy Campaign) ? For the ones having it.

The price ain’t an issue for me. Just the tank performance overall.

For the ones that got it, is it worth?
How powerfull it is!?
How effective is the HE and the Ap in it!?

I was level 4 on us campaign 2 weeks ago, right now I m level 19, and as a player that trully enjoys tank gameplay, befor I even get the jumbo, it’s worth the shot to invest on the chaffee?

Please, for the ones that have it, share your input.
Is it fun
Is it powerfull
Compare it to pz3 n as much as you can since I own it and I can have a base on the discussion

No. The main gun is pretty much the same as the Sherman, so nothing new or interesting, but it has tissue paper for armour so it’s inferior to the Sherman.

The only fun you might get out of it is the speed, but IMO it’s not worth it for the loss of armour.

You’re better off sticking with the Jumbo and Sherman.

My personal felling is that it is about what you might expect. Faster than M8 and more armor than the M8 but less survivable than the Sherman.

If money is no object and you just want to have it then go ahead. Is it worth the cost? IMHO … No…

If they ever run on sell at 50% then yeah it might be fun to have …

Well, I find the Ap on Sherman underperforming… Even if I penetrate the enemy tank, I won’t do damage or kill a single soldier inside.

Even shooting Ap against a puma its still inferior than shooting he. A single he will kill a puma.

But I need more feedback.

One of the things people always forget about Premium Tanks is the bonus experience. They can really help the grind as they get double exp. Also their early availability is good if you’re just starting to level a campaign. Having a full 4 star crew with a 4 star tank off the bat is nice.

Personally I haven’t used the M24 Chaffee, but I’d say its at least as protected as the first 2 US tanks with a better AT gun than both. Of the Premium Tanks I have used, Panther A in Berlin and Pz38t in Moscow. I enjoyed them both and used them up until I finished the campaign grind. I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth as I used them for many hours and had fun playing with them.

i would say if you like to play aggressively then the extra speed will help you stay alive from infantry but sherman would still work i prefer sherman over jumbo for this exact reason

I got you, and I fully agree in that. but I m already at level 19.after only 2 weeks into the alied campaign in normandy. In my position would you buy it as it is?.

Do you have it? Can you share more about it?

I see. I m almost on jumbo level. And I regret not investing on the chaffee 2 weeks ago.

Do you have it? If you do, would you recommend it? Money aside, is It worth or not as a tank against pz3s and pz4s? Does the he performs good? Coz a Sherman 75mm it’s way too bad against a pz4… I can’t test it… I want to be sure about it.

It’s the only premium squad so far I m serious question about. Coz I simply don’t see no one using it.

i’m completely free to play so if i was lvl 19, 24 is my current lvl, i would consider buying it for the more aggressive play. the coffee uses the same gun as the shermans so it should be terrible against tanks because solid shot but have great HE shells though that is my guess

FFS I pretty much own every single premium squad, but this chaffee it’s always on the back of my head, paper skin armor on a fast spead can’t convince me if I have to stop to aim a shot…

I guess i I’ll pass on it…

yeah i do hope that the chaffee and shermans get their shortstops to help with the fact that they have just AP only

I only have the German premium tanks so I have not used the M24, so I’m not sure how well it does against Pz3 & Pz4.

Hmm yes I think if you’re at 19 you’re about to get the Jumbo so you’ll probably use that. However if you plan to bring 2 tanks, the M24 should be as good as the other 3 tanks, so you can bring it for the bonus exp and not be at a disadvantage.

I don’t care much about xp, leveling a campaign it’s as easy as it gets. Premiums as xp makers are worthless when the campaign is completed.

Yeah. I do own all axis premium squads, even obt ones… All I need is feedback from the players that own it even on the latter campaign levels.

I can’t care much about the price, but 40 euros are still 40 euros. I need to be sure I get what I pay for. I need more feedback.

It’s a tank I only saw twice so far. 2 times.
Ence my need to know why.

Depends on play style. For example, have a platton to play, and love shock and awe, I always pick up tanks to rush point, push down walls for team and keep shoot enemy spawn and run. A 3-tank-queue is important for a smooth attacking wave. Fully upgrade in both sides, and 3-tank-queue works fine every time.

pzIII for 1st wave -pzIII gold for 2nd, its super fast to rush rear(compare to others :rofl:) -pzIV for 3rd to kill jumbo

chaffee play a role like pzIII gold, with better HE

well…

the panzer III is much better due to it’s armor, and penetration capability compared to the M25.

plus, you can angle it. just like with the majority of panzers.
but with the M24, not so much.
especially because it’s a light tank.
if you angle it, you are just gonna harm your self ( exposing side shells composite, and easier to hit the engine as well ).

and as people explained above, the gun it’s not that good either.

i personally didn’t tried the PZ III and the M24, i must admit.
but playing as both factions over normandy, you face those tanks somewhat on a daily.
and i can tell that even the starter tank can penetrate it with no issues ( the m24 ).
on the other hand, with the pz III, the M5 and M8 can struggle and need to aim for weakspots.

but hey, if you want to collect them as i somewhat saw that you pretty much buy anything, than yeah, i guess someone is going to be happy.

but it’s one of those situations where it’s like, a sidegrade and somewhat skip tier.
AKA, you don’t like m5s and m8s? than pay for the M24.
and outside the “skip”, it’s an iconic tank that never saw normandy. so time traveler 101.

don’t get me wrong. i have nothing against it it, but i don’t know.
answering to the question objectively, ( just like the majority of premium squads ) buy it only if you are a low level. or if you are seeking to add things for “collection”.

but if you have already a sherman, don’t bother.

the gun is REALLY good, its small, fast the mg’s are god tier, great turret traverse
but its armor is trash, anything that pens you will damage EVERY thing and kill half your crew

well yeah… after this topic and searching about it on youtube/redit , there wasnt much info about it, so yeah,… why not… i bought it.

also got all previous batlepass weapons … and remaining premiums i didnt own so far. so yeah. lets see if my wife wont discover this extra expence this month ^^ (joke)

played 2 games with it , the first one i noticed 25 rounds of HE its trully low, speed isnt as much as i was expecting, and cant survive a single shot from a puma. the mg’s tho are trully amazing, if , using both on same time. turrent transverse speed is decent and he blast radius its prety much equal to the sherman,

i regret not buying it 2 weeks ago on a fresh campaign start.
isnt worth 40 euros tho. not even half, soldiers limited to 4 stars where the best perks for the tankers are at 5 star range, kinda sad here… Preaty much 40 euros that only give an extra squad and a unique vehicle. But will be way inferior down the line as the campaign progresses. . but anyway.

I might notice why pz3n it’s more present in-game than the chaffee. Pz3n it’s way more capable.

So, to answer my self and future guys searching about chaffee. No, isn’t worth.
Buy it only as a collective squad or only on a fresh campaign level.
