Carcano rifles damage

I’m genuinely curious as to why the Carcano M1891, loaded in 6.5mm, deals better damage (deals 22.4) than the 7.35mm Carcano modernization (deals 21.8) while simultaneously, the Carcano M41, the default, free rifle for all units in tunisia, which is basically a shorter version of the M1891, is also worse than both of those (deals 20.5).
Also somehow the M1891 deals more damage than the Kar98k (22.1), which shouldn’t be possible by any means considering that one was loaded in a more modern round (at the time) that was far from being as obsolete as the 6.5 the carcanos were loaded in.
It’s a really small issue, but it makes the game feel like it has a lot of inconsistencies.

technically the m1891 is the larger round with it being 1mm longer than 7.35mm one hence why there is a .6 difference

The caliber AND the barrel length should be take in count for the damage calculation

No, not caliber and barrel length, but rather muzzle energy. Bullet diameter is not the only factor, the velocity of the bullet is equally as important.

actually it’s squared as important :upside_down_face:

The energy of a bullet depend of its speed and mass. That’s the physic.
The speed depend on the quantity of powder and the efficiency of the canon.
The efficiency of the canon depend on the machining, reaming and the lengh.
The lengh depend on the time to burn the powder.

And at the end the damage depend of the energy of the bullet and the shape.

For exemple: same bullet no dumdum and then dumdum.

(One way to make a dumdum bullet, is to take off the ogive and put it back, backward. It hit with the butt.
And it’s butthurt)

You will still kill 99% of your ennemy if they recieve a 20 damage hit in game.
So who really cares about 21 or 23 damage

As @Upolaf said:

What’s really important now in game is accuracy and bullet cycling speed. Carcano m38 is great at both.

We need care about rof because even full star a 40 rof bolt-action is still slow, we need use boltie wo have already stock a good rof

Yes agree with both of you.
Rof should be up with some BA.

The japanese Type99 laté is shit because of that.

You could make a gameplay choice like “have a good iron sight or have a good rate of fire”.
But right now everything look randomized.

Which is why…

Ohoh I’m so happy bout it…

THE MANNLICHERS ARE BEST RIFLES!!!
(With Lee Enfield but shhhh!!!)

I think the Arisaka Type 38 is putting up a good show for best bolt-action; beating the Mannlichers in both rate of fire and accuracy, plus it’s got a bayonet and decent iron sights.

I agree. I got a soft spot for Arisaka38 rifle, it’s real good.

But the best is the Stalingrad only mannlicher. Great accuracy, fast bullet cycling speed, above average damage, fast strip reload… and bayonet if I remember well.

K98 is a carbine while M91 is a full length rifle, pretty sure that explains it well.
