So being a USSR player and im about to unlock the 71 round drum for my bullet hose. I cant help but feel bad for the german team who wont have anything close that competes in close quarters.
So how about this. You can only capture one weapon per match.
Every time you kill an enemy , their body drops along with their “weapon” they are using at the time (primary , secondary , special , grenade/bomb). If you grab that weapon , you have taken possession of it. And can bring it into battle (one time only! or unlimited times until you are killed)
Now there are multiple ways this can work.
To capture a weapon you simply pick it up and it tells the system that you have captured 1x PPSH and it adds it into your inventory back at base instantly. This is the simplest and easiest way to do it.
To capture a weapon , you take it from the enemy but you have to SURVIVE THE MATCH with the gun to “capture” it and bring it back to “base”. This still only gives you 1x PPSH.
To capture a weapon , you have to take it from an enemy and get a kill with it. This will allow you to take 1x ppsh back to base. The benefit of this mechanic is that you wont have people hunting for guns and then just hiding in a house until the match is over.
All of these captured weapons are temporary though. And only last as long as your character can stay alive with it. If your character gets killed while the weapon is on him. It disappears from your inventory at base and you will have to capture more. However alot of people will be farming these and stockpiling them. so there will be plenty of guns on the ground.
right exactly. But at 10x that would really be only one squad plus some change.
And if that squad gets nuked by a plane , or arty strike or just combat , all those guns are gone anyway.
The point in limiting them is to , as you said make sure all your squads are running around with whatever guns you want.
Keep in mind other capturable weapons would be pistols , grenades , mines , anti tank rifles , mortars , hell maybe even a tank if the devs could figure out how that would work.
This would add a sort of balance to the game, so if you are facing a nation that might have something better than you , you can take it and use it in a limited fashion
So we are closer and closer to BFV seting where US troops captured Iwo Jima with Stg44.
I’m not against captured weapons but in your idea, they would be too common. Maybe premium squad with one / two captured weapons (that are 1:1 what enemy have) but that’s all I can agree with.
Great example of that is German premium LMG squad in Normandy - equipped with captured polish Brownings wz.28.
I agree that bringing mechanic of captured weapons, especially on that scale, would lead to simple mirror balance, where everyone would run with the same weapons. @371237 All nations have their unique equipment and it should stay that way. If you want to use weapon of other nation - kill them and pick them up in that battle. No bringing back to base. Or just play that particular nation.
I agree. One should not go down the path of the Heroes & Generals game, where the implementation of captured weapons mechanics simply ruined the entire existing system of uniqueness, and of already fragile balance.
I would even go further and reduce the ability to use a raised enemy weapon from the ground to a minimum. (say, when you pick up a weapon, it would only have one magazine in it), or remove this option altogether.
Each faction must have some distinction, or everything loses its overall meaning in the game.
