It’s quite an apparent and consistent issue if others are making posts about BR 1 vs BR 3 often, more than you seem to be claiming.
Mostly because they want to push their agendas/interests this way.

All balances have some holes
The only difference is what kills the cannon fodder
Facing veterans full of experience and equipment
Novices have no ability to resist
Veterans will still beat newbies into honeycombs
What a novice should do is to survive this powerful environment
Learn how to adapt to the environment rather than letting the environment adapt to you
And become an electronic black slave and start growing cotton until the technology line is full
You are expecting too much from a new player, especially a steam player lol.

Just as high as your expectations that class balancing would solve the problem
best DF can do to make game more beginner friendly is to increase number of matches for newbie MM. but that would come at a cost of people thinking that game is deserted if they recognize bots.
i would probably increase newbie protection to something like 50 matches with option to opt out and go into regular MM.
btw downside is that those players will still get slaughtered when they get into regular MM cause they will learn by playing against bots…
