We have all seen them on the maps, some of us have knocked them down with our tanks to cut the way, the idea is “simple” but at the same time complex to develop: some of the weapons that are on the stage could be usable and in case of their destruction to be able to be “repaired” by the engineers, heck, you could even create a specific division of engineers for heavy equipment as was done with the engineers that accompany the machine gun squad, another idea that occurred to me is that the engineers can build small bridges (we can take for example those seen in the Pacific) to be able to cross certain areas with the tanks, continuing with this line, how many times is our tank put into a hole created by accident due to an explosion and there is no way to get it out, I’d love to be able to “dig” it out or even use the hook used in War Thunder to rescue them
Great idea, if true it will make players rely more on tactics than advanced equipment, but considering our engineers build AT guns that still twitch on the ground, I feel sure these new mechanics will bring a myriad of bugs
First off, please try to better separate your sentences so that its easier to read. I think I’m missing some of your idea simply due to how much everything is just piled together.
I think what you are trying to say is have certain structures and weapon fortifications built into the map that can be repaired by engineers. Which I am not opposed to. In addition, that there should be a way to fill holes and trenches so that tanks can pass easier, which I am not opposed to either.
In fact, (I’ve suggested this before but I think it also fits well for this conversation), perhaps a bride type structure that can be built in trenches that not only allows for tanks to pass, but can double as a “bunker” type structure. Make it apply to similar rules as Czech hedgehogs, where grenades and most other explosions don’t harm them. Only large aircraft bombs and TNT can destroy them. This way, infantry can benefit from using it as cover too.
I’ll break it down for you: commonly on maps there are a multitude of cannons, artillery pieces and other heavy equipment that have no current use other than being a mere decoration or temporary cover before a couple of shots from almost any weapon (which is somewhat illogical For example, it occurs with the German flak 88 in several maps that literally even a pistol knocks it down with several shots), these weapons could be usable and repairable by engineers as occurs in the armored train map or in case of being destroyed, power being rebuilt for high resource cost, in case the developers don’t want it, it could be included in a specific engineering division.
The second suggestion is to be able to build bridges to be able to cross rivers or complex slopes for the tanks, I know that its development is very complicated, that’s why it’s just an idea.
The third option is to be able to dig your tank with a shovel if it gets trapped in a hole caused by an explosion and an option so that the pilots themselves can rescue it, for example, if the tank has a hook, to be able to hook it to something and thus be able to get out out of trouble or that an allied tank can rescue you if possible
Ok. Just so you know, I went ahead and posted up the suggestion for “Baley Bridges” that should be able to cover the bridge part of the conversation, but with extra detail and in its own post.
The other stuff it sounds like you have valid points to me.
As for the bridges, their design could depend on the faction, but the stereotype that I mentioned from the Pacific campaign is a bridge made from wooden logs with horizontally shaped wooden planks or with a slight arch to be able to crossing spaces that are very impossible for a tank to cross, such as a trench that is too wide in which it could end up stuck or the typical situation in the Pacific in which the bridges are defended by Czech hedgehogs and other tools and the only way that could allow a possible passage , is to build something in the water as an alternative
Side Note:
The Czech Hedgehogs can be eliminated with TNT and aircraft bombs.
But believe me, I agree, the ability to build bridges needs to be a thing for a multitude of reasons.
sadly not many do that…
