I love both squads, but I always have a better team to choose from in the game

Agree, but you forgot the US and Japs equivalents. They’re 4 men engineer squads with semis as well. They definitely deserve something too.

Might as well just expand this suggestion to all the premium engineer squads, the arisaka soviet squad and its German equivalent both suffer from the same issue.

it is weird how the new event engineers will be 6 man squads.
I think most engineer premiums were supposed to have bigger ammo pools, right? before the ammo pool buff for the semis my fallschirmpionier already had 10/40 in their G41 now it is the same as the normal soldiers. Maybe they could buff their resources pool, so they have the same as 6 engineers or cheaper constructions.

It is worth mentioning that those two engineer squads carry semiauto rifles at BR II, though.

On a different note I would like to have that leaf camo or any other iteration of it which is there for the first squad. The Soviet customization in the Battle of Berlin is quite dull as it is.
