I’ve seen videos with people running around with engineers armed with SMG’s and assault rifles (no not premium squads) but I never in my 3 years of playing Enlisted was able to arm my engineer with anything other than rifle
How is this possible, are these people using mods?
Are there SMG’s that can be equiped by engineers?

Previously, a bug allowed engineers to equip all weapons in some campaigns.
Whether it was an M1919 or an MP43, he could equip it as much as he wanted.
This has now been fixed.
I think the answer is no, they can not have smg’s
I actually don’t understand why so many people wanted this bug to be real. It undermines the whole concept with different classes and so forth.

This thing has been a buzz since this bug appeared for the first time until it got removed.
It is fixed, cant be done anymore
I always knew it was going away, but I made sure to abuse it to the absolute maximum while it was a thing. I also got screenshots for posterity.

You can in Stalingrad campaign, German engineer can use Mkb 42(H)
I want see instead enginer able to use T1 smg (all the smg used in the first assaulter/medic squad) but with more recoil and more reload time for balance

I would rather use a good semi-auto rifle than crappy SMG
But Engineers with T1 SMG’s would probably be good for new players so I have to agree with this
I wish DF could distinguish between builders, who use semi-automatic rifles and tend to build fortifications to support friendly troops, and assault engineers, who use automatic weapons and are better at attacking and dismantling enemy fortifications, such as adding a perk for them to speed up the dismantling of fortifications, or taking less damage from barbed wire, or something like that
I believe it was different per battle.
In Tunisia it was never possible to give MGs to engineers, with or without bug.
yes, it was from campaign to campaign, as far as I know, it was only possible in normandy, maybe moscow

You can equip your engineer with mkb42 only in Stalingrad but on other campain it was a bug which have been corrected
